It looks pretty cool but wouldn't be pretty heavy?
coach weighs about 10K right?
Drive train weighs about 1600 lb.
removed section of hull might weigh 1000?
That makes a 23 foot 7400 lb trailer.
Anything wrong with my math?

Gene,
I recall having seen a picture of a trailer made out of the rear section of
a GMC. It was short, had a standard tow bar extending from the front, and I
think it had rear end caps at the front and back.
For the life of me I can't remember where it was!

Gordon,
Here's a link to another picture of a GMC trailer being towed by a GMC!

I believe Bill Bryant made it himself.
This should cause you less stress! ;-)

np Rob - difficult for me to forget as I still search for *one* inexpensive
lamb to sacrifice, only to see someone who has already slaughtered two.
<sniff> <sniff>
I actually think this one is really clever and probably could be thrown
together in a weekend or two, not to mention - great use of all the space
*and* would probably look phenomenal towed behind an original.
G. :)

Mark Andreson in Madison, In. was going to make one like that a few years back. I do not know if he ever completed it.

Assuming someting like this comes in around 7000 to 8000#, you will need to balance it so that you get a tongue weight of 10 to 15% of the total weight. It will require brakes and a good size truck and hitch to pull it.

I have a 26' Transmode that will end up a Matching trailer this summer. Part of the concerns is weight and proper length to the tongue for tongue weight, I imagine I will be cutting it back to about 16 to 19' Also concerned about tongue length for the pivot space so units will never hit, I have the unit but need to figure out the proper way to make this work and work right. Then a rear ramp set up maybe split the back (No rear window) Any help you guys can give would really help out.
Then we will have a 403 and front end parts up for grabs.
Weight is an issue but look what she tows now, (Pour Girl)
Here is the unit in question:

As it gets closer we could do some basic geometry and weight analyses that should get it in the ballpark. Will you be pulling it with the GMC?
