I am lying in bed with a heavy steel / plastic brace on my leg holding
it rigid. The pain killers aren't bad :) but I am not looking forward
to 6 or eight weeks or more with the brace.

I was carrying a box to go out to the GMC to begin packing for our
trip to Florida and then on to the GMCMI convention in Louisiania. I
tripped over something and fell face down, bending my glasses and
cutting my face -- but worst of all was slamming my knee into the
concrete floor. It immediately swelled up. I went for an Xray and was
told that my knee cap was now in two pieces. I then went to an
orthopeadic surgeon who said that the pieces were lined up very well
so he wants to try immobilizing my leg and knee to see if it will
heal. He will take more Xays next week and if it is still in place I
will have to wear the brace for 6 to 8 weeks or more. If it doesn't
stay lined up he will operate. Either way I cannot drive so we have
cancelled our vacation plans. I will miss seeing many of you at the
Convention. I hope everyone has a good time and that you eat a lot of
that great Cajun cooking.

I guess I will have a lot of time to be on the Internet now.

Terrible news. Best of luck to you, Emery.

Well, that's good news for those of us that aren't going to the
convention.

That's a really tough break, Emery (pun NOT intended).

The older we get, the longer it takes to heal and one
MUST be reminded of that occasionally.

Best wishes for a rapid recovery.

Dang it Emery. That will be my loss too. I had lots of talking to get done with you at this convention. I promise to send you pictures instead of flowers. Teri and I will really miss Michelle. Can she come on down without you?

"I'm a Little Depressed", he said, despondently.

Only a little depressed, Emery?
I'd be really PO'd.

Good luck, wp0-10 q1e'll try to put in a good word for you with

Emery, so sorry to hear of your fall and wish you a complete and speedy recovery. About 4 years ago, when putting an electric fuel pump on the GMC, I took a tumble an my left knee hit my huge floor jack. I thought It was going to be real bad, but at the time it was not. But now, years later, that knee is giving me problems, especially at night. So, if they get you fixed up well now you may have fewer issues in the long run than those of us who thought we avoided a problem, but really didn't.

Again, a good recovery to you.

Emery,

Sorry to hear of your fall face down.  Praying the brace will hold things together so you can mend safely without surgery.  Otherwise, we'll have to put out a warning to the nurses.  :) Sending you encouragement, peace & joyful hugs across the miles.  Grateful you weren't hurt worse, dear friend.

OUCH! Oh no! Emery! I'm so sorry to hear this.

I know you're not the type to put up with much immobilization. It's gonna
be a long hard row to hoe, buddy.

I'll be in touch. Hang in there.

I can somehow feel your pain.

Emery, I hope that you are well braced with some quality bracing liquid to
minimize the effects of the fall.<Grin> Seriously, I am truly sorry to hear
of your misfortune. Take the time to let it heal. I guess neither one of us
should be buying green bananas. I work by myself a great deal and try to
think a couple moves ahead to prevent stuff like that. Again Best wishes .
