There has been a couple of inverter threads so I though I would toss this out as another alternative. I realize this is another topic that has lots of opinions, so don't flame me over this.

We have used a number of these Tripplite Inverter/Chargers with built in transfer switch at remote tower sites to power commercial and Municipal radio commuications systems during power outages and as a backup to generators.

Its basically like a UPS with an external battery so it uses your house battery.

I see they have RV versions as well, I have only used the General Purpose units. Follow the links on the right hand side on this page:
http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/power-inverters-chargers.cfm

I like them because
- they have a fast 3-stage charger
- I can put a large battery of my liking on it
- Built-in transfer switch
- available in either plug-in or hard-wire.
- can handle 150% overload for upto one hour and 200% overload for 10 seconds.
