Hi All,
Murphy seems to be with us on our trip from Europe to New Mexico. After having someone rearend our loaned car on the way to the airport we missed our flight to Washington because or dog wrecked her kennel, we arrived in Washington airport om March 1st. Immigration did not take up too much time, but then we had to go find our dog. Nobody knew where she was or what to do. When we finally located her in the cargo area 4 miles from the terminal the waybill or something was deleted from the system because of the delay. We finally got her out and found our hotel in Baltimore. Yesterday morning I went to pick up the coach and all the paperwork went easy, so I thought our troubles were over. No such thing.
The batteries were dead. After being jumpstarted I noticed the altenator did not charge and the tach didnt work. The engine soon died again. Than I found out the hatch had been opened, all the switches on the dash were in the wrong position and then I saw the complete fan assembly ,pullies and serpentine belt were loose in front of the engine. The waterpump shaft had snapped off, sending the fan into the radiator. I have no idea what happened, and nobody was able to tell me, they said they just drove it off the ship with no problems. I had it towed to a big parking lot on Broening Hwy. close to the harbour, to try and fix things as I was not allowed to stay in the port.I COULD REALLY USE SOME HELP NOW, as we only have 1/4 tank of water and cannot stay here long. I need to locate parts, which is not easy in a strange town. I have been able to order a new water pump, but cant find a fan. It is a Duramax 9 blade composite fan. This morning I will take out the radiator and try an
d have it re-cored. The shipping company across the road lets me on the internet every now and then, and our dutch cellphone will only work untill march 5.

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP US.

Marc, I am trying to send help your way. Do you have a local vehicle for your use? Please attempt to either PM me or call me. Cell number is five seven one two one six five six three two. For a quick local solution to your phone going out of service, buy a pre-paid one (TracFone, etc). This will do until you are settled. Do I understand that you have a Duramax Diesel installed?

Hi, Marc.

I highly recommend you obtain one of the no-contract
(pay-as-you-use ?) cellphones for your stay in the USA.
I think even Wal-Mart sells them. You can restock your
minutes there or at lots of other places. I'm sure the
cost for a USA cellphone call to the cell number you
listed would be quite costly but maybe not. I figure
it has too many digits to be a US number.

Marc has a Duramax (it'll suck a cat through the radiator) FAN not a Duramax MOTOR.

See: <http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=8693>

He DOES have a twin turbo charged diesel... (He removed the superchargers.)

Still complicates helping... But if I wasn't 3000 miles away, I would take time off to help... to see the coach if nothing else!

Dang, and I thought Teri and I had problems. I can not imagine going through this in a foreign country. I hope someone comes back to let us know what is going on. Was almost like a scam to me as I read it. Then I realized who it was. Tom can help them, no doubt about it.

I still have not been able to talk to Marc. His international phone is causing "ability to dial;" problems. I am standing by waiting for any further contact. Bruce Kendall is standing by with parking space (lots of it) and a mechanic on tap. I have a water pump and gasket ready to carry up there.
Waiting is painful, for everyone.

Latest news, Bruce Kendall has been in contact with him. Bruce has a mechanic on call for the repair, the water pump will be a local procurement. He installed a 6.6 liter GMC pick-up motor in the coach. Still searching for the proper fan. Unable to determine if the radiator is damaged or what vehicle the radiator is from. If stock GMC motorhome, there may be one in the area, otherwise.....
You can only call his international number on a "Wired" phone, cell systems do not cut it.

Hi Tom and all, Thank you for the replies. In just got back to the public
libary wifi.
Bruce Kendall managed to call me and offered a parking space and help.
However I already orderd parts to be delivered here at the shipping company
across the road, so I dont think I will move just now. Brue called me from a
landline, that worked. I will try and get a prepayed asap.
Gene Dotson is shipping me a new radiator overnight and i am now on my way
to pick up a waterpump I ordered yesterday. I found a chevvy deale who can
have the Duramax fa tomorrow morning, so in that department I am moving
forward.
I justhope the engine has not been run too long wihout coolant. We'll see
what happens after i got the parts in place and fill it up again. Just the
drinkin water and propane levels are a bit low for comfort.
And than there is the dead staring batteries and 1 dead house batterie, so I
hoep the Onan will cooperate to charge these. Im off now for the pump and
will be back on the wifi in about hald an houn.

Do you guys need transportation to a local store for water, etc.? I am
currently in Downtown Baltimore and could knock off early today, but I am
without tools or other support (my office is 75 miles from my home). I
cannot call an international number from here (government office). Email
reply to the list, or to richard.denney@dot.gov
