The coach i pointed ya'll to last summer is still there.
http://davesilva.com/eleganza/index.html
First, the salesman on a Saturday thought it was totally junk, he said they'd take $500
A few weeks later I went by during the week and the owner said $5000. He told me all about the engine work etc. I think he was living in pre-2008 world before the recession.
I was back there today, again, the Saturday people could not tell what they want for it but they did have more info on the story.
They said the PO did all kinds of work including a new engine and trans and the "trans would not pull it", whatever that means.
Anyway, there are a lot of new parts and it is obviously a very sad story.
The tires are "new" and dry rotted. the engine looks fresh, etc.
So somebody needs to call Snyders RV on Monday and find out what it will actually take to move this coach.
Cuz if no one wants to put this coach back right I would sure like to convert the Revcon front end to GMC and put some cash back the RV fund.
Somebody has to stop me.....

Dave,
IIRC from pictures I've seen the Revcon upper and lower control arms appear
to be custom fabrications made from box beam. They look very beefy.
Are the mounting points on the frame the same for the Revcon and GMC?

Dave,
I think we all would rather see GMCs kept whole and used, BUT times have changed. Lets face it, there are just too many GMCs and too few customers. I would much rather see one parted out to supply spare parts than crushed and destroyed as scrap. That is what happened to a local GMC I had been watching for many years and it still bugs me.
May I be so bold as to suggest that by parting out some of the poorer examples for parts and getting them off the market, may keep the better examples prices from bottoming out as badly where no one wants to put money in one.

Looked at all the pics. I'd be interested in ALL the awnings, but would want to see that box thing open first!!!

Are we really to this point in GMC history to be tearing them apart for the worth of parts??
Maybe we are but I don't see it in gas prices, yet.
If it is in decent condition, it can be rebuilt. Look at all the ones that sat in the field before dug out and restored.
Maybe there should be some kind of outline for this type of thing.
If the frame is rusted out, a burn out, extreme crash vehicle might put a GMC in that catagory. If it is say 75% destroyed from rot, I'd say it was a goner.
But a coach that has restoration prospects should be hands off if the GMC community is going to try to keep them alive as long as they can, otherwise, all this talk of making them popular and spreading the word is a lost cause.
Further, if a GMC motorhome is to be destroyed, there should be certain givens that MUST BE SAVED FOR RESALE.
Front and rear cap come to mind, glass, no matter if it is foggy or not, window units, frames, suspension peices, front end peices, hvac peices, dashes in good condidion, in otherwords, you need to have a building to keep the parts for resale. If you want to tear them apart you need to be responsible enough to recycle them to the community that knows we are slowly losing GMC's on a normal rate, not including ones that are being destroyed for parts. I thinks those days are over.
If you need to find a part, you need to find one that is visibly finished as a GMC Motorhome, but still, recycling is a must.
Try finding what you need from the GMC recyclers out there and give these old ladies a chance to find a life again.
