I have 4 feet of air intake hose on my throttle body. It is pretty greasy looking after a few years. Who has this stuff now, 3 inch? I got this from Rance when I bought my intake bonnet. I can not find it on his website and they want 8 bux a foot for it here in Tucson. I will replace it when I get home. Not paying 8 bux a foot.
Thanks,
Dan

Dan,

I did a quick search and came up empty. Are you sure it is 3"?

At $8 a foot, I'd beat feet to the men's mall.

Good Luck,

Yea Tom, I cleaned on it so I am good. Thanks for the search. I still may replace it later if Rance FI still sells it for a reasonable price.

Dan,

Try a John Deere (or probably other tractor) dealer. The 3 inch "picker
hose" I'm using will probably outlast me and wasn't very expensive.

Hurry up so you can make the rally here and we'll run out there and get you
some. :-)

Dan,
If you purchase anything from that guy, we are not going to worktogether.
I told you that he sold me a Special distributor for my
cad with a word that it will work on my injection system.
When we realized that it would not, he refused to let me return witha
offer to pay restocking charge.
People like them we do not need and I do not want to associate with
those that will do business with them.
This issue came up over a year ago and I'm not going to let it go.
I can get you the same part for less than he charges.

Dan,
Last time was for a person looking to purchase the air bonrt for your
Throttle body.
I think you'll now recall that outrage from me.
This is a free Country, and I will take the liberty to express what I
went through.
Send me info on the hose as we suppply most in bulk so your cost will be less.
Discribe the constuction of it and picture.

Yeah -- it works fine until you have a backfire. I had an electronic module in my distributor go bad. The engine backfired and I had abut 15 feet of stretched out 4" aluminum dryer dangling beneath my motorhome and dragging on the pavement!

Emery,
I guess I better replace my dryer hose before that happens.

Its funny reading that now, but when it happens I'll be yelling "What the F**'n" and my blood pressure will go through the roof.

Still chucking here though. Thnks for the morning smile Smile

MacMaster Carr has everything but if you can not by it by the foot, it may be too expensive. The junk yard may be your best bet. I do enjoy cruising through the MacM C site though.

G'day,

Here's a link to the J Lock connector which I've provided before:

This device will allow you to easily disconnect and reconnect 4" hose to the

Jon,

That 4 inch hose looks nice. I think it will work just fine for you. For what it is worth, I used 4 inch stove pipe from Lowes with a couple of adjustable elbows. It works well, too and has a smooth surface for good air flow.

one of the projects I have been not making a priority, is to replace my cold air intake hose. I had a 4" dryer vent, hooked between stock air
cleaner, and a fiberglass Ram scoop (http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/574) in the grill.

that 4" dryer vent was a pain to take on and off to remove the air cleaner, and it was fragile, and just not a good thing. Then I replaced the
original air compressor, and the new one ended up directly in the way of the hose routing i had, so I just tossed that hose in the garbage.

So I am trying to figure out best way to mount that ram air scoop, and run a hose to the air cleaner, and hopefully find a hose that when I want to
pull the air cleaner off for any reason, It is easily done.

I am thinking of this guy:

What have others done. I have heard someone say "corn picker hose" but have not come across where or what that is.

Not a known item in Wisconsin where we have a lot of corn. I suspect, given ken's location that it is cotton picker hose.

You can get a very good quality hose from Clark's Corvair Parts. that can take the elements, and environment of our engine bay. Clarks offers an OEM type. Or an aftermarket type. I got the aftermarket. Both are very strong, and fit right on Applied GMC's grille air intake. www.corvair.com or 413-625-2558

Clarks Corvair has a very strong, and flexible 4 inch rubber/steel air duct. Excellent in high heat, and water areas. Part # C4255 at www.corvair.com. It's $29. for a 36 inch pcs. And can be made into an oval for tight spaces. I've put it on several GMC's. Used one of Applied GMC's fiberglass air scoops in the grille. Sometimes put a short section of 4 inch metal duct on the scoop for longer requirements, and stability of the scoop. This will deliver a more dense air supply to your engine for better performance, and economy.
