I'm planning a 2200 mile trip next month from Vancouver, Washington to Fredericksburg, Texas. Let's not get into why someone would go to Texas but rather the part numbers I need to buy a spare alternator, water pump and belts for my 76 Palm Beach. I've read many lists of things to carry along and they get pretty long but I'm open to suggestions for other things to have on hand, just in case.
Any favorite brand for alternator or water pump?

I'd just buy the belts. All the other things you listed are easily available at typical auto parts stores for a '75 Toronado...

I carry those parts in my coach (behind the bathroom cabinet). I don't think you need the water pump, If you have an electric fuel pump that is good as a back up. The onan and a jumper wire will work as an alternator temporary replacement, but a repair kit won't cost much or take a lot of space. I would suggest a spare distributor module and a coil. You could pick those up in a pick a part.

Lance, you may want to carry an upper and lower radiator hose and the
belts. Chris is right about the local sources along the way. Enjoy. The
Texas Hill Country is beautiful in March and April.

Lance,
Others have, and will, give their inputs on what to carry. But I suggest that you install the items you pick up as spares and them keep the item removed as the spare. You KNOW it fits and works!

I carry spare belts and a spare airbag as well as shraeder valves to screw into the bags if a line goes down. I wonder if some of the regional clubs have a spare airbag for somebody to take with them on a library loan type basis. I also carry a floor jack and a BIG breaker bar in case I end up changing a tire. I have Roadside assistance but if you're out of cell coverage that doesn't do much good.

Forget the Alternator and Water pump. These are in stock items at most auto parts stores. I just yesterday picked up a water pump at my local NAPA and it is a terrible store but the pump was in stock.
The only thing I suggest you carry is an ignition module and coil, spare fan belts are cheap though I have never broken one, and some schrader valves (available at Ace Hardware) to put in air bags in case the suspension quits. If you were to destroy an air bag, call me and I'll overnight mail you a used loaner. Several people gave me their used airbags last year to use in a loaner program.
This idea of carrying spares can quickly get out of hand and where do you quit? Bearings?, fan clutch?, final drive?, transmission?, engine?. Carry a few small spares and a few tools. I'd add some electrical and duct tape and be done with it.

Shucks, it's bluebonnet and Indian paintbrush time in TX --of course that's
where you'd head! The other forum I'm active in has a Bluebonnet Rally later
in the season in early May at two different parks: one near Marble Falls and
two days later one near Kerrville. Do tour the museum and the LBJ Ranch
State Park.
I really miss TX that time of year. . .
Adios. . .

One other thing. Don't forget to get 2 new fuel filter elements that go into the carb. Install one before you leave and carry the other as a spare. Best bet to install is to remove the 4 bolts that secure the carb to the manifold. When putting it all back together do not over tighten the bolts. Just past finger tight is enough.

have a local rebuild your old alternator , and replace the stator windings.
the rebuilds you buy are junk
and the one you have rebuilt will last another 30 years, (no need to carry a
spare)
and install your APC cable

My favorite brand of alternator is the one rebuilt in Shelby, NC by a shop that the fellow has been rebuilding alternators and starters for over 50 years. If you can find someone that actually rebuilds and not just replaces what he thinks is bad, it is better than most new or rebuilt ones.

I think I agree with most everyone.
You will need nothing extra if you have a tow car. Do take the black list and a vendor list. You are only overnight from several sources for scarce parts. You should have cell coverage most all the way. I take a GPS because it tells me where the nearest parts stores are located. I have a lot of spare stuff and never needed any of it except: Jack, tools, zip ties, volt meter, oil, funnel, hose clalmps, some wire, and duct tape. Have fun.
