You DO remember 'Pop Quizzes', don't you? Today's is about the things just 'hanging around' under our dash. What are they, and are they supposed to be attached to something. What do they do? This may have been covered at some time, but may help some of the newbies (and me!)

Thanks,

Howdy John,
First pic is the transmission kickdown switch. Someone put a hose on the pin for more adjustment and it looks like the wire is cut.
I'll admit to being stumped on the rest. They might be the low fuel light module, Set valves to travel light module or I think there was on some coaches a low coolant light module.

Isn't that board the timer module for the 'set to travel auto' light on the dash when put in drive each time?

John,

After 20+ years of classes, I certainly remember pop quizzes -- try as I may
to forget them. But I don't think I ever flunked any of them as badly as
this one. Seems like I woke up in the wrong classroom again.

All the unusual connectors, odd shapes, unknown color code combinations, and
a splice connectors make me think you must have had a EE PO. Now I DO
remember why I've got all those little tags on every thing. I may not leave
behind much in the way of marked up wiring diagrams, but at least the
Brother TZ labels seem to last very well.:-)

Hi John,
Wished my memory was better , but here goes : There were two different versions of the " Low fuel" warning module, the second version was much smaller and simpler, yours appears to be the earlier version even though your coach is one of the later GMC's . Ressurected a couple for Paul Doane a couple of years ago but can't find the old ones, This takes care of photo 015.
As for photo 011 / 012, it's the "Low water level in the radiator" , when we got our coach in 2004 , it had a new McNeil dash and no telltale light for Low rad. water, had to make up a light and buzzer so the thing had an output.

Don't know what the black / dark round thing is though.

Al is right on for the two modules. That "dark round thing" is definitely a buzzer of some sort. The screw in the center is to adjust the sound. It is not, however, an original GMC part but must have been added on by a prior owner. It probably tells when the turn signals are on for the hard of hearing.

I agree with Emery but think the correct nomenclature is "dark round thingy". smile

Thank you all for your responses. I guess what bothered me was why these "thingies" were just hanging around under the dash, and not attached or anchored somewhere out of the way. When I put this back together, I'll see if I can secure them somewhere - don't need another "Toyota" experience!

Thanks again,

John
