Lisa will see the ortho doc tomorrow morning and we have been told that it may require surgery to align the bones.  We shall know more tomorrow.  Today was an interesting day.  Lisa developed an allergy to the pain meds and the over the counter stuff is not doing much.  Monday she is scheduled for a procedure at Albany Med to check the placement of the central line cath.  The port has shifted and they need to be sure the line ends up at the right place in the heart.  Of course, if they need to surgically align the bones in her arm then Monday could get real interesting.

Billie, I know that you have had a loss also. How are you doing? I want to
thank you for the get well card that you sent to Mary following her first
surgery. She really appreciated it. She is presently back in the OHSU
Hospital in Portland Oregon in the intensive care unit where she underwent a
second Open Heart Proceedure to repair what the first surgeon did poorly.
She has had complications again post surgical but we think that she has
turned the corner and is on the mend. Will know more in 72 hours or so.

Jim,

Sorry to hear Mary had to go through a second heart surgery, & having complications on top of that. Bless her heart... literally. Hopefully they got this one right, & she won't have that again. I'll send her an Ecard. Hang in there. We're standing with you in prayer. More off net.

Lisa saw the bone doc yesterdday and the news was not so good. Both bones are offset and will need to be manipulated back into place. That is scheduled for Wednesday of next week and wll require general anesthesia. Tuesday she will have blood work done and then we will find out what time she is scheduled for. The good news is that the doc put her in a soft cast that has stabilized everything and thus has reduced the pain. Before, with the splint and ace wrap, when she moved her arm the bones would move and that was extremely painful. Monday she has an appointment with the mito doc at Albany med so the week will be busy. I will be having a minor procedure the following week so the house will take on the appearance of a MASH unit for a few days.

That is the latest but with Lisa you never know what will change before all is done.

Lisa is home and recovering from today's ordeal. Things went fairly well and would have been better if the hospital had used her central line cath. They could not use the port (and the anesthesiologist was pissed) because of a new hospital policy that said that if Glens Falls hospital did not place the port then it could not be used. They did use a peripheral IV line but Lisa's veins were in a lot of pain by the end of the procedure. The Doc said the bones slid into place perfectly. Even with a hard cast she has to be very careful not to displace the bones. We go next Tuesday to the Doc to check on things and they will Xray to check alignment. Lisa is uncomfortable with the pain but we hope the healing process can finally begin and the pain will lessen each day.

Will update if there are any changes.

Wayne

Wayne,

Wishing a speedy and as painless a recovery as possible for Lisa.

Glens Falls, been there many times for the balloon festival when I lived in
NJ. I still have four or five friends that still fly their balloons in the
festival.
