At 2-wheel Tuesday tonight we had a $400,000 to $600,000 Columbia 400 which weighs about 3600 pounds roll in on a 40 foot flat trailer. We proceeded to unload it by hand.
The 35 foot wings wings were one unit. The fuselage and horizontal stabilizer were separate pieces.
How many people did it take?
The answer is 18. 5 non-working officers (Indian chiefs) and 13 enlisted workers (the Indians). It is now safely in a hanger and will be reassembled by Friday.
It was a nice airplane. It was bought at auction and only has minor fire damage to the rudder and top of the tail. It was stored in a hanger that caught fire.
Extrapolating these numbers to a GMC I figure 15 officer supervisors and 39 workers ought to be able to lift a GMC off of a flatbed.
