To my many art fans ‹ the three of you can now view my latest rendering.
This one is base on the TransAm Territory coach used in promoting the
Firebird TransAm by Pontiac łback in the day˛. So as not to infringe on any
copyright of the screaming eagle logo that may or may not still be in
existence, I did a variant of the eagle artwork for the side of the coach.
For that matter, the paint scheme is slightly different. The flares have
been extended to go down the side of the coach. I didnąt put on new
headlights but I did work up a new grill, added Eagle/Alcoa wheels and
mounted Ramco mirrors and bent wipers. I also put one AC on the roof with a
lower profile.

Wouldnąt you like to see Larry Bontrager give this scheme a try? Plop down
about $6K and Iąm sure heąd give it a crack.

The design is beautiful.

I also like the vents you installed in the 73. What are they out of?
It would be really cool to install a couple of wide coverage docking
lights inside the vents.

Rob,

Do you recall the name of that club I'm not a member of? I'd like to list it
on my signature if it's a thing of pride.

So, just truncate things behind the photo id. Interesting. It does fit on an
80-column line quite well.

Thanks for the tip. Now, to remember it.

Dave,

I didn't install any vents. Those are for the furnace that was in the
TransAm Territory photo. That wouldn't be a Suburban furnace. The vents in
it were different and mounted vertically instead of horizontally.

Now, about docking lights. I always thought the backup lights from the
Chrysler PT Cruiser would be neat to mount on the T-cover of the rear
wheels. There are, basically, two styles of PT Cruiser lights. The original
oval ones with red reflectors and the later model version with parallelogram
look to them (except the opposing vertical sides aren't equal).

Another option would be the lights from the HHR. They'd be angled backward
when mounted flush on the sides.

This illustration is to give an idea of an updated look to the TZE without
distorting the original design beyond "tasteful". I thought about doing
stacked quad headlights with the turn indicators in the grill. I can see
that on a Pontiac-look.

Byron, I was referring to another photo in your album.

Another docking lite application was John Evans' use of a pair of 3rd
brake lite off an 86 Chrysler LeBaron convertible, mounted vertically,
about where the engine vents would be. Just replace the red lens with
clear.

Where to mount lights is a matter of personal preference. I think I would
like mine further forward to light up as much real estate as possible.

Having said this I never installed any on my GMCs.
Guess, I never got a round tuit!

Rob,

Thanks. I knew it was an acronym.

I'm getting so that I can remember if LBT is for long black thing or long
blue thing. I do know I have some of both in my work shed.

David,

Then you're referring to the Escalade or Land Rover vents. I've seen the
Escalade vents (or a knock-off) installed. Here's a photo of the Land Rover
vents from "russ" on the photo site.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=33898

Sirum's had a coach for sale at one time that had nice docking lights under
the large window. That seeks like a great location.
