Dan, what have you come up with for an "emergency" brake now that you have
switched to 100 percent disc brakes? Are you going to use the one that Chuck
Algur was working on? On states that require a safety inspection before
licensing, we will have to have something they will approve.

Gene,
Give up! I told Dan the same thing but he's hell bent on installing them and
as you say he's doing it:
"because he can!" ;-)
Dan,
I just checked the Car Craft VW site and it looks like the price has come
down on the rear disks here's a link:
http://carcraftstore.com/reardiscbrakekitwe-brakes.aspx
The last time I checked they were over $300!
They even have them with undrilled rotors so you can have them drilled to
match your wheels and toss the adaptors!

just do the front on the bug, that is all that works any way
gene
Now, on my vdub, I am doing discs on it too and the Emergency Brake is a big
deal on it cause I use it everytime I get out of the car.

Dan, just saw the photos of the coach on the ground with the new wider stance - awesome!! It looks like it can handle now - no danger of falling over. And it will be able to stop too. I drove a coach with the reaction arm system and it is a world of difference. I'd love to see the results of that stopping comparison with Doug's coach.

Hardie,
I don't understand your question; the picture you have posted is a picture
of a Cadillac brake caliper with the mechanical emergency brake actuator in
it mounted on a GMC bogie.
This is what I have on the middle axle of Double Trouble except I did not
use the caliper with the mechanical emergency brake in it. It has been
reported here a number of times that their reliability leaves a bit to be
desired. IIRC Emery noted that he had one that locked up and I think Ken H
mentioned something about it too.
There are pictures of the guts of the caliper with the mechanical emergency
brake in it but I'm about to go to bed as it is 12:45 am here in Sydney.
You can buy the calipers from http://www.tsmmfg.com/Rebuilt_Calipers.htm

I am curious about this, too. Many States require some kind of emergency
brake. Regardless of where a coach is now, someday it will become an issue,
either from a move or a sale. A line lock is not going to provide an
emergency brake. Putting the transmission in Park is not enough holding
power.
The Fiero has a simple cam that pushes on the back of the piston. Isn't
there something similar for the larger calipers, for example:
