Within the past few minutes I received the FMCA Caravan package. I'll
transmit this to all those who are already on the distribution list. Since
not everyone who will show up is either on GMCNet or the distribution list,
please disseminate this information as widely as you you can.

As should be expected for as large an operation as the FMCA Convention,
there are plenty of rules; here are the ones they've sent me that the
general membership needs to know about:

1. The Caravan leader (me) is responsible for assuring that ALL caravan
coaches are Pre-Registered for the event. The pre-registration early bird
deadline is February 7.

2. The Caravan leader is strongly encouraged to pick up Will Call
confirmation packets for registered caravan coaches at the holding area
prior to their arrival time. (Gonna be hard to pick 'em up if I haven't
arrived yet. We'll probably have someone precede the caravan by car IF
anyone has their package held at Will Call.) ...

3. FMCA's window admittance decal (I presume they'll send those to each of
us) AND caravan card (I just received those orange cards) MUST be
prominently displayed in the front windshield of each coach... (They don't
mention here that they also want FMCA numbers displayed.)

4. All caravan coaches should have their headlights turned on.

5. Whenever possible, tow cars should be disconnected and driven separately
into your permanent parking area. (I suspect this won't be a problem with
our maneuverable coaches.)

6. MEMBERS IN YOUR CARAVAN WHO HAVE REGISTERED FOR SPECIAL PARKING; FOR
EXAMPLE, HANDICAP, ELECTRIC, ETC., NEED TO BE PLACED TOGETHER AT THE END OF
THE CARAVAN. (If we have any, we'll put them just ahead of the SOB's who
will be playing "Tail End Charlie" -- we've got 3 registered already.)

7. Caravan leaders are REQUIRED to have a cell phone. (OK, Already!)

8. Caravan leaders MUST return the attached Caravan Confirmation Request
form to the national office by February 16, 2011, to be a confirmed caravan.
(That form asks for CONFIRMED NUMBER OF COACHES IN CARAVAN. SO, Y'All let
me know ASAP if you plan to come. I don't seriously expect that number to
accurate though, and won't worry about it if everyone has their Confirmation
when we roll out of here. 9., below, is in line with that.)

9. An accurate coach count and number of coaches parking in regular caravan
parking, Family Electric...is required and must be communicated to FMCA NO
LESS THAN 24 HOURS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL... (Somebody remind me to call 'em.:-)
)

10. CARAVANS MUST FOLLOW THE ENCLOSED DIRECTIONS AS APPROVED BY LOCAL AND
STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. (That means we've got to hit an IP (Initial
Point) at I-75X135 at about 1015 on 13 March. and enter the East entrance.)

The EMPHASIS is theirs, not mine -- . :-)

Me too. This is as good an opening as I'm likely to get to make this
request: We need volunteers from among those planning to attend the
Pre-FMCA 2011 rally to be our videographer and our photographer. The
tutorial by Bill Bramlett on the TH425 overhaul should be preserved for
posterity. And there should be a photographic record of both our coaches &
campsites, and, especially, the caravan. Who'll volunteer?

When we caravaned from Oklahoma City to Albuquerque, we got separated into
two smaller groups before we got to ABQ, so the aerial photographer sent
out to meet us didn't get the whole thing. I don't know that I can arrange
for that, but we should at least get some ground-level shots. There's a
long hill immediately after we leave the farm on which we may be able to get
the whole caravan.

If I can remember to get the camera in our coach, battery charged, tape
loaded, and use it, I'll get you guys rolling into Perry Heights before I
jump in line.

Hint -- won't be at the farm but will join the caravan outside the
fairgrounds.

Good. Also, Richard Sowers called last night; he hopes to come and has
volunteered for video & still photography. With 15 years as a professional
news photographer, we might get some good shots out of him. Especially the
TH425 overhaul and the caravan.
