The forecast for the area where i live is 1/4 inch of ice and 12 to EIGHTEEN inches of snow. After my oldest went to college I purchased a snow blower. The other kids were mad because I didn't do it years earlyer. If any of you are in the market for a blower to blow a path to your GMC,,,get the one with electric start and no battery. No corrosion, dead battery. No replacing every couple years!!!Best kind.

All the weather guessers are giving us the same type of forecast for the Chicago area as well!

Ditto on the electric start snowblower. Just be sure to service it properly, don't let old gas sit over the summer, and enjoy hearing it start up when you hit the button. I'm going to get a fresh can of gas and some 2-cycle oil this morning so I can be ready if it really hits us.

Remember when the forecast used to be for heavy snow, now it's always a Snow Panic!!!!!!!!!!!

Not knowing when the last snowfall is I usually shut off the gas and run it till it stumbles,,,chock it and run some more. Then whan I'm sure ther's no more snow I drain the tank. Works real well. Came with a shutoff valve. If yours doesn't have one they have them at most lawnmower shops,,,,,,PL

North of Chicago by the state line. Wisconson is supposed to get slammed by the storm.

Our area is predicted 12 to 24 inches, 50 mph winds, blizzard conditions, lots of blow snow to pile up the snow.

My drive is in such a position it collects snow, whatever the forcast, DOUBLE IT for my drive.

Bought a snow blower a few years back , no battery electric start, pull handle for emergency.... worked ok for awhile... The plastic chute broke, cracked right down the middle, blew snow everywhere. I put an aluminum lining to hold it together and send the snow where I want it.
Then the cast electric plug for the starter began to arc, burnt away the copper on the plug blades and did a good job on the cord outlet too. Finally wouldn't start electrically. Cut of the damaged plug and outlet and wired together, now it starts electrically....
Using the pull handle, frayed the cord, it broke the cord.
The other day, instead of throwing snow 20 feet, it barely comes out of the chute, belt problems I predict.....

Great when they work, A dictionary of words, when they don't...

When VACATION time is used up, GMCers hurry back so they can once again enjoy the fine art of WORK to make more GreenBacks to buy new stuff for the GMC motorcoach.

I'm in the snowbelt off lake Huron, suppose to get 30-35cm's (about a foot), but my driveway is the same way... lots of big drifts.

I just use my lawnmower to get rid of the snow. This isn't me in the video, but he's got the same "lawnmower" setup.

12 to 24 inches is bad but i've never seen 24 inches of snow knock out power. But one inche of ice and 12-18 inches of snow means no power!!!

Just be thankful you don't live in North Queensland Australia.

They are awaiting a cyclone expected to be the biggest in Australian history including a possible 4 meter storm surge. It has a 500 Km front

Plastic Chute broke??? For me Ariens all steel and powder coated is the only way to go. Made in Wisconsin. I have a 1977 5hp/20" (with original spark plug I should change that) for most snows and an 8hp/24" I got on ebay for $200 for the big stuff and in case I break a belt or shear pin in the middle of the mess. As you can tell I like spares. Yet only 1 GMC?

My CRAFTSMAN snow puffer with a 8.5 Briggs & Stratton OVH engine, with a 24" cut, made in SEARS is my main snow removal unit.....

I have a 3 hp, 12" cut, electric shovel single stage snow thrower....

and if all else fails, I have a 1 man power, 20" blade manual shovel man killer.....

Well, the repairman came by today to check out my snow blower. It is under warrentee and he found so much wrong he shook his head Shocked and said he had to come back. It sounds like he has to replace everything but handle bar, Briggs and Stratton Engine, and control levers. He said he has to replace the the Auger housing?????? By the time they are through, I should have a brand new snow blower again.....

Perhaps I should think about extending the warrentee again... Laughing Laughing Laughing
