As Ken pointed out, if you have printer or file sharing turned on someone can get in unless you've taken other steps toward security.


With XP there were a lot of people who didn't create their own profile (identity) with a password or else they never created a password for the top-level admin account. One just logged into their system with "administrator" and no password and take ownership of the computer. That was a big security hole. Such poor security was lots of opportunity for someone else.
