We more or less inherited a 1973 Painted Desert in 1998 when my wife's brother in law passed away. Being it still bore the original orange paint we have lovingly called it "The Great Pumpkin" all these years.
As it came from Long Island, NY, it suffered the slings and arrows of severe frame rust that I am ready to tackle this year.
To make her right I need for sure the left and right rails, but likely the bogie reinforcement as well.
I am in the Phoenix area, so if anyone knows where I might look for them, I would appreciate the tip. I have access to a flatbed trailer and wouldn't mind traveling a day or so to get them but not more if I can help it.

Hi Ric
Here is one source http://gmcmotorhome.info/frame.html
of course this page is not dated so I don't know if still good.
You should post your message on the main forum. Only those messages are also forwarded to GMC'rs who only use email. You'll get many more responses there.
There are several GMC'rs in Phoenix that will be able to share info and experiences; Bob du Kruyft, Randy and Chris. And several more nearby.
You will also want to get to know Jim Kanomato at Applied GMC in Freemont, CA http://www.appliedgmc.com/

Ric,
I made my frame rails and cross peices.
The rails are a 6x6x.187 square tube sliced length wise ( with a heavy duty circular saw and a thin caburandum blade ).
The cross pieces i made at work from 3/16 flat stock and used a brake to bend because of their special width dimension.
I also made a CAD drawing of the rail & pieces, mine is 75- 26ft,
I don't know what difference is on the 73.
You won't really know the true extent of the damage until the frame is disassembled.
Email me if you want more info. fixman54@syix.com
