I have a NOS lens that I believe fits the parking light on a 1970 Cadillac. I've searched obsolete part numbers in Google and done a Delco search for the part number. I think it is Delco.

The box identifies it as "1 lens" 5964519, but the numbers on the clear lens are as follows: Guide 68 SAE R 70
the part number on the lens is a 5952389 3.

To further complicate, on the box is hand written my grandfather's name with the part number 582506.

Of course the actual part number on the lens is what counts.

I'd like to sell this thing, but I don't really know what it fits and what it's worth.

Stick, Put it on e-bay anyway. Someone looking for the lens probably knows it by part number anyway. Those other numbers could be superceded numbers for the same part. It's only really worth what someone is willing to bid. Be sure to have your S&H that covers your cost.

You're probably right. It just irritates me that I'm not able to find it. Smile

Stick,

Have you looked here...

http://sites.google.com/site/guidetotaillightcodes/Home/oem-charts-page-1

Would appear to be an OEM lens for a 1970 Cadillac, rear, so if clear, does that make it a back up lens?

Stick,

You can also go here http://taillightking.com/

Look under 1970 and later Cadillac -- he has pictures of lens and fixtures -- some with prices.

Stick,

Why be irritated -- what would you have done before the Web? :-)

At least you can know that you're partially right: The "SAE R 70" means
that it's for a '70 something. That's how I usually identify vehicle year
models in a junk yard.

Hey Stick,

The Parts Manual says it's 71-73 CC (commercial chassis) back-up
lens. You've got an ambulance part.

Call any GM parts and have them search through their file of dealers
that have that part in their inventory.
They will want big prices as they know it is no longer made and they
are to only one that has any. If you not willing to pay big bucks, do
not bother them.

Back in the late '60's and '70's some front parking light lenses were clear,
but they used yellow bulbs.
