Hi All,
When I saw the posts about propane conversion I thought I would comment.
Back in 1997 when I purchased my '77 PB ( which I sold 11/2 years ago) it h=
ad a propane conversion. It consisted of a rear bumper extension mounted to=
the rear shock mounts between the Bumper and the mounts. It extended about=
12" out. This enabled a huge cylinder to be mounted crosswise. The gas lin=
e was extended to the front where a regulator was mounted under the hood. T=
here was a nozzle assembly mounted on the air filter top. Under the dash wa=
s a switch to a solenoid to cut the Gasoline delivery and a guage. There wer=
e also a valve and fill on the tank itself. The whole unit was a profession=
ally built very well made setup. I believe it was installed during the fuel=
crises of 1979. I only used it one time on the trip back from Minnesota to=
New York=2C it seemed to work well.
I removed the whole unit due to a very weird quirk=2C as a turn was made th=
e propane (liquid) would slosh from side to side causing a sudden rear moti=
on in the Motor Home. Disconcerting to say the least.
I still have the Bumper extension and the regulator somewhere. The tank I w=
as forced to cut into small parts since I was not able to get rid of it.=20
