When we acquired our 76" Eleganza 8 years ago it was in need of a make over. We stripped it down by removing everything from the exterior for paint. One day while looking over this project I realized it looked look a huge Twinkie. Light tan outside and white vinyl inside. The name stuck and everyone now affectionately refers to our GMC as "The Twinkie" The "Money Pit" had posted a previous message and I can equate to that name, Anyone else out there with a pet name and story for its origin?

In about 2000, we took the (now, not available) Copper Canyon trip, where
they put your coach up flat cars, and we took a 17 day tour through Mexico.
We were continuously parked with 30 other SOBs in many camp situations.
I commented to my wife that we looked like a COCKROACH , parked between all
these huge SOBs. She was sooooo offended, she said "how about a little
grasshopper" and the name stuck.

Later when we got the Tracker, she became the "Cricket" that was always
attached.
years later, some, young grandson came up and asked ( at a rally) " what
happened to the grasshopper painted on the side of the GMC". I had to tell
him it was only a picture for the web page ;>(.

Our first boat, a 1967 17' Larson Volero that I bought
new when I was stationed at Keesler AFB, MS was not named.
We got back into boating again in 1994 with a Carver 28'
Voyager sedan cruiser that we named Budget Bu$ter. In
2001, We moved up to a 1995 Carver 355AC (35') Aft Cabin
that we named "Another Adventure" because our now 50 years
of marriage has been just one adventure after another.

When I was a pulmonary fellow, we had multiple, near identical mechanical ventilators (used in the ICU). They had long serial numbers that distinguished them, but these were hard to conveniently remember and check. Therefore chief of respiratory therapy named and labeled each of them after WWII carriers and battleships; we were at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City. Then we could conveniently say to one of therapists "Denny, we have to replace the PEEP valve on the 'Enterprise' right away." The patients and most of the nurses loved the system, because many had been in the Navy.

Matt,
Tres bien!
The Blue Streak was named as such because there is a "Blue Streak" down the
side of the coach.
I posted pictures of it on the Photosite and Byron noted it looked more like
Blue Snake that ate a big possum!
I bought Double Trouble without telling Helen I did and soo. . . . !

I was a NewBie when I bought my Glacier 260. It had been through a couple of owners and the last one, I swear, bought it to clean up the inside and make some bucks. Her outside paint was 3 shades of a faded and whithering metallic blue.
I began to call her the Big Blue because I hated the color.
I am deep into Greyhound Rescue. My first Greyhounds' name was Gatsby. This kind and gentle hound traveled everywhere with me, as do the 3 I have now. I would look in the mirror and see him on the back bed, ears up and pointing, looking right at me. At home if I dared to open the door to the GMC, Gats would jump in and lay in the bed and it would take some pretty good talking ( and quite a few treats ) to get him back out again.
Early one morning Gats went to the rainbow bridge, where all good dogs go and I Named the GMC " Gatsbys' CRUISER " for him. He must be watching over the GMC because it has had some pretty good cruises so far, (knock on wooden head)...
I do have a boat as well and it was named "ODYSSEY SEEKER" in search of interesting cruises and good times.

Our 77 Kingsley has been called both "The Road machine" and the "Vista Cruiser" due to it's Old's innards. Probably will settle on Road Machine.
I have a 76 Arrowglas tri-hull outboard that is yellow. It was the only yellow boat on the lake until it became a popular color in the late 90's. She's "Old Yeller."
