Find out who the local or nearest major motor home people use. Just had both of mine replaced by the independ installer they use.. My rubber cleaned up good but he recommended new rubber because of flexibility. Thought that was a good investment. They got the windshields from the place recommended by Jim Bounds. RV Glass solutions, 888 777 6778. It was done in my shop.

RV Glass Solutions has advertised for years in the FMCA magazine. You can call the toll free number and they will replace windshields anywhere. When I was entering Florida a few years ago a gravel truck on I-10 dropped some stones and they cracked both of my relatively new windshields. I stopped at Jim Bounds place and he called RV Solutions and they came to his shop and replaced my windshields the next day. They billed my insurance company.

My Dad in Michigan lives at a lake which is about 25 miles from any large city. He had a cracked windshield on his 40' Foretravel. They came to his house and installed a new one.
The nice thing is that you don't have to ship any glass. They bring it with them and if they break it when installing it they don't charge for it but just get another piece and come back.

That is pretty much my experience with them, they drop shipped the glass to
an installer here they knew had done at least one GMC in the past. I asked
those guys to install it at my place because I have a larger working area
than they did. Excellent job,not so much as a stray fingerprint when
completed. I also replaced the rubber gasket and the installer pointed to
the body seam in the glass channel and asked if there was ever a leak in
that area. I said yes, pretty common problem with GMCs, and they used a
urethane sealer in that area. Never leaked a drop after that.

G'day,

This subject has been discussed before and one of the times someone
mentioned that if the edges of the windshield were coated with a light coat
of silicone sealing the glass - plastic - glass sandwich it would prevent or
slow down the windshields fogging.

I have ABSOULTELY no idea if that is correct or BS but I figger if I ever
have windshields installed in either of my GMC's I'll do it as I can't see
how it would hurt.
