I might have a line on my next Towd. It's a Boonie Bug and is based on
a VW Bus chassis. May have to go a ways to get it, but trying to find
out if the fellow is interested in selling it...

I believe that is one of those build it yourself cars that Mechanix Illustrated featured back in the 80's.

They were all designed by one guy and he has a website where you can still buy plans for them.

I was tempted to build this cool little 2 seat car that got over 100mpg. It used a frame and drive-train from a Triumph if I remember right, and was powered by a kubota diesel.

Here is the site:
http://www.rqriley.com/plans.html

Here is the Boonie Bug:

The 100mpg car called the Centurion

Or the latest one @ 125mpg, would make a nice towd.

Lots of cool looking vehicles there

I bet if it was made by "Porsche" it wouldn't be so ugly.. The back wheel might be a tad hard to replace in case of a flat.

Maybe this guy would design us a matching towd to the GMC!

I thought the Phoenix camper was kinda cool too!

I have that all planned out Gene. I have an enclosed trailer that is
outfitted as a portable motorcycle garage. No more cars towed behind any
motorhome unless there's just no way around the issue.

Whoa, down big fellow, down. Ain't got it yet and when I do get it, you can
bet I will have gyped the PO out of a good coach. I'm never again going to
pay good money for a bad coach that needs more good money tossed into it.

I tried using my Harley as a toad and found:

took too long to unload and load
had to unhook trailer to back up on one way road
when ever I wanted the toad it was too , wet, cold, hot, windy, etc to ride
could not carry friends while camped
dangerous for wife and me
as a life boat, it sucked

so finally gave away the trailer, (kept the Harley;>) and bought a Tracker
for a toad.

Your boonie is a blast out of the past, circa 73 or 74 and is probably still available (in kit form or plan build) from Riley.

Gene,
I'm going to look at a VW 1.9 Liter TDI motor on the weekend to install in
the Tracker. Acme Adapters make a kit for the conversion into the Tracker.
