As threatening, the topic of the propane sending unit is on..
The gauge at the tank is working.
There is a little post with a nut on the bottom edge of that gauge that has
a wire connected to it that goes to the monitor panel. This gauge on the
tank also has 2 smaller Philips screws surrounding the glass portion.
I'm guessing the post on the gauge is not connected to anything and the
internal wire(s) were broken off years ago !

SO, can this portion of the gauge be taken apart without propane loss?

Thanks

Mike, you can take the screw loose that holds the wire. Don't take the others loose.

Thanks Dan

Not what I wanted to hear though...I've already disconnected the wire, it's
the 2 not the 4 screws I want to get at!

Mike,

I had a problem with the readout on the panel in the coach. Avions do not
have a gage they have a series of bulbs that come on to tell you the level
of the house water tank, black water, and LPG. They shine through clear
letter/numbers in the black Plexiglas which are E - 1/4 - 1/2 - 3/4 - F.
When I had problems with that system I sent in an inquiry and I think it was
Emery that noted the system got a ground through the bolts that held the
tank to the frame. I removed one of them, cleaned it up along with the
surface of the tank and the frame and voila. The bulbs worked.

If you need a new gage, we keep them in stock.
They do notenter into the tank at all.

Hi Mike

Yes, you can take the screws out to take out the little plastic gauge window. This is magnetically connected to the float inside the tank. When you get a new gauge it just drops into place and the trim around it that holds it in place is then screwed back on.

Sorry,
Too strange to try to quote.

Mike,

You got the answer I know from Emery, but he left out one thing.

Yes, the little plastic widget that is the gage sender is held in by the two little phillips screws. You can take that apart and you probably want to do so.

The gage sender is grounded to the tank by a crumby little spring contact on the back side of that plastic widget with the pointer in it. If you live near any salt water (like any place in the Maritimes) that will corrode and loose its connection. Clean it up and screw the gage back in with some di-electric grease so it lasts a little longer.

If that does not get it, check the LP tank to chassis ground. This is a wire that will go from one tank foot to somewhere on the frame and that can rust up just as well.

Good Luck Guy.
