Thanks Shan. Been pricing them at local shops and online. I've seen pictures of the tread. Looks nice. Per parallel thread about tire age, I'm not excited about buying online and having no control over how old they are. Plus, with shipping, the onlinetires end up costing $141@, while my local Discount Tire quoted $139@ including mounting/balancing & disposal of old ones. Walk-on-water Les Schwab doesn't carry them but will special order. Going in tomorrow to get a price. I do like their service. From spending several hours searching comparisons and customer reviews I'm pretty convinced they're a great tire for the money. Thanks!

> They are the standard 225/75/R16 in Load Range E so a typical size and they are USA made. Not a dmestic brand anf farmed out. I was originally going to get diferent tires when I found the Dunlop's and did a little research on them. The ride is softer than my old tires even with 70# pounds in them and despite the aggressive tread road noise doesnt seem to be any different then wih my old Highway tread, I have about a thousand miles on these and sofar i"m happy with them. you can get them from www.onlinetires.com for about $124 each. I picked up locally so I didnt have to pay shipping, but I still had to pay sales tax.

Yeah sometims the shipping is a pain and since you live in OR with no sales tax (Really thinking about moving up there if it gets any nuttier here in CA)then shippng cost is not negated by sales tax. for me I was able to drive directly to Online tires warehouse, and let me say its huge, they literally have about 50,000 tires in stock, the guy told me in addition to online orders they supply about 50 tire shops locally so if I had boughtthe tires elsewhere, chances are it came from them anyway,so was ice to cut out the middle man, and they sent me to one of their shops which mounted and balanced them for $15 each. Still with all that, they didnt have the Dunlops on site, they had to pull them from the local Goodyear warehouse, so they got them in a day. All tires were recent manufacture, 20/10 for 4 of them, and 03/10 for 3 of them. I dont think that was such a big deal despite the 17 weeks between the 2, they all smelled great, and made a great air freshener in my Girlfriends Tahoe lol, she is a gearhead so finding a woman who enjoys the sent of fresh tires is really a find!
Being that they tires undoubtedly spent their life in a climate controlled warehouse before I got them I doubt the date codes mean that much in this instance since their exposure to UV and ozone wasminimal. I'll probably rotate them out in a few years with another set, since these are affordable enough to do that with. you certainly cant go wrong for the money, an I was really pleased to see them Domestically manufactured. For extreme traction on less than desireable surfaces, I'd say its impressive fo a non studded tire, and is the next best thing to a fully studded snow tire yet can be driven daily on the street with low noise and good quality ride. The GF remarked how much better these felt from the old tires. So its definately a solid choice, though I only have limited miles on them, we'll have to see how long the tread lasts...
