Does anyone know the correct part number for the battery boost solenoid? The GMCMI Parts Interchange (Issue 91, page4)list it as NAPA ECH ST247, but my auto parts man & the NAPA web site show it as:

http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?R=ECHST247_0169976288

This is what I'm looking for:

http://www.gmcws.org/Tech/BOOST_SWITCH_GMCWS.pdf

The one that I'm replacing is different yet. It has all 4
terminals on the end.

My "new" coach is an early model 1976 Birchaven titled as
a '77.

You want the Napa ST80SB or ST80 solenoid switch as a replacement.
The part you listed (ST247) is a starter solenoid and not what you want.

This is a common configuration for high-amperage contactors that would work
fine in this situation. Yandina sold off some surplus 200-amp contactors a
few years ago, and I managed to snag one of them for really cheap. It has a
much higher continuous current rating than a typical solenoid, and it also
had the required 100% duty cycle. Here's a picture of mine:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=26980&title=chassic-wiring-center-2c&cat=3677

Any solenoid relay switch or contactor will work. It needs a 12-volt control
circuit (case ground is acceptable), a current rating sufficient for engine
starting (the crank rating of the battery for a few seconds), and a 100%
duty cycle rating. Most starter solenoids are fine except they have a 25%
duty cycle rating and their coils will overheat if left energized.

I have an old one that I took from our GMC due to some messed up threads. My plan is to rethread it and use as a hidden shutoff to keep GMCers from stealing my bug at rallies.
