To the GMC Community,

The last couple of years I have had some health issues and unable to work
for awhile. I wanted to work on my GMC but physically at times could not.
Having an "A" type personality sitting around and bed rest wasn't for me. As
a GMC nubie I wanted to do something positive with my idle time to try and
help other GMCers like myself who knew very little about these wonderful
motor homes.

I remember some months back about talk on the GMCnet site how we could
promote our GMCs and try and get more people interested in owning one. So I
put on my thinking cap and came up with the idea to write the "Idiots Guide
to Finding 1973-1978 GMC Motorhome Information on the Internet ". I think it
could be used in the following ways:

1. Help GMC nubies quickly find information on the Internet;

2. Promote the GMC motorhome at GMC rallys (hard copy handout or CD and/or
at car shows we attend;

3 And definitely help some of us that have CRS and can't remember the
link(s) to GMC specific information.

We talk about GMCers being so friendly and willing to help other GMCers.
Here is a fine example. I saw a graphic some time back that was created by
Bryon Songer. I didn't know Bryon but thought it couldn't hurt to email him
an ask permission to use one of his graphics in my Guide. I emailed Bryon a
draft copy of the Guide and told him I wanted to provide it to the GMC
community free. Boy did I get a pleasant surprise. He immediately stepped up
and volunteered editorial guidance, page layout, design and GMC
illustrations. WOW, What a great job he did. Thank you Bryon for making the
Guide look so professional!!!

I hope no one in the GMC community takes the name I chose for the guide
personal. I only choose the name to draw attention to the Guide.

Here is the link to the Guide -
http://www.gmceast.com/about/about/boveeguide.html.

Download and enjoy it. The graphics are high quality thanks to Bryon, so you
can print hard copies if you wanted to and the graphics will look great.
Burn to CD or load it on a memory stick and take it with you to share with
others to promote our GMC coaches. If you have any comments or suggestions
after reading the Guide please email them to gmcidotsguide@gmail.com.

I'm currently recovering from elbow surgery. So, forgive me if I'm a little
slow to respond to your email.

G'day Gary,

Good on yah, Mate!

You and Byron have put together a very helpful guide and it's not just for
newbies! Even with a cursory review I spotted some things that I wasn't
aware of!

Great job! I'm sure it will become a "classic" among both newbies & oldies.

Per Gene's suggestion, the document has been updated (slightly) and revised
(somewhat) with bookmarks in a variety of places. If you got the Guide
before this morning at 8:30 Eastern you got the original. Clicking on red
text will always take you to either another place within the document or
load the URL in a web browser.

Wow! Nice Job!

As a newbie and an idiot, I thank you for your hard work. I don't have a coach yet so I spend many hours crawling the internet for information to feed my new obsession. This is a fantastic resource.

Well, ya beat me to it. started putting something like this together about a year ago and presented it to our Greater Midwest Classics group at our summer rally. Not nearly as inclusive as this document. I've been constantly amazed at how few of our members were aware of "GMC Motorhome Information" and the GMCnet Forum, so I set out to...so to speak educate our group. Mind if I pass this on to them?

Thanks...this is really a great document!!!

Larry,

As a newbie not knowing much about the GMC motorhome I have been
helped by many on the GMCnet in the last couple years. I wanted someway to
pass it forward to help
others like I have been helped from time to time. Since I don't have much
GMC knowledge to be able to contribute here, this was humble attempt to try
and help others.

Please do pass it on. I am going to email it out to all the GMC clubs that
I can find email addresses for and ask them to post it on their website if
they have a tech page.

Happy GMC travels!

And I'll do my part to keep it fresh and maybe add another section. Gary did
a great job.

Go educate the masses.

Gary,

I started to use InDesign but like how Apple's Pages (a part of iWork)
handles some graphic effects that ads that "certain touch". It does it
better and I can do in Illustrator though all the graphics I do start in
Illustrator.

Why my own graphics? Easy answer. I don't have to worry with copyright
infringement or anything similar. I'm right here to give permission to
myself.

By the way, I'm glad you asked. I also reassembled it in InDesign so Gary
could play around with learning InDesign. I started way back with PageMaker
in 1986 and Illustrator in 1987. They were Mac-only products then. So was
PowerPoint and Excel for that matter. We're talking ancient history.

Hi Gary, very nice job; lots of work and well done.
I tried to send a "private message" to you but wasn't accepted. I'm at grggroth@sbcglobal.net if you want to give me a shout.

Gary,

I finally got around to a complete, detailed, reading of your great
guide. I have one suggestion: I think more explanation of the Black
List is needed; the current brief comments don't sufficiently
emphasize the importance it can have for a traveler in trouble -- or
just looking for friends.

Thanks,

Ken H.

PS: There's a typo in Dave Lenzi's entry -- don't remember what now. :-) KH
