Atwood purchases Fan-Tastic Vent Company
RV Daily Report Contributor posted on December 21, 2010 15:00

ELKHART, Ind. -- Atwood Mobile Products LLC reached an agreement today to
acquire the privately held Fan-Tastic Vent Company located in Imlay City, Mich.
Fan-Tastic Vent is a market leader in 12-volt powered vents, selling primarily
to the recreational vehicle market.

Penny Milks, president of Fan-Tastic Vent, stated, "We have chosen to sell to
Atwood as they hold to the same high standards as Fan-Tastic regarding customer
service and quality, and the two companies together will bode well for the RV
industry."

With this acquisition, Atwood will further strengthen its breadth of product
offerings to the RV OEM as well as to the aftermarket. Atwood is currently a
leading supplier of ranges, water heaters, furnaces, chassis hardware, entry
doors, windows, LP and CO alarms, seating hardware, LP tanks and roof ladders.

"Fan-Tastic Vent is an exceptionally well-regarded vent manufacturer that we
believe will be a great complement to Atwood's current product portfolio", said
Atwood President Tim Stephens. "Their strong market share position built upon a
reputation for quality and customer service makes them an excellent addition to
the Atwood family".

Richard Kingdon, executive vice president for Atwood, added, "The purchase of
Fan-Tastic Vent aligns with Atwood's long-term strategy as we seek ways to
better serve customer and end-user needs through innovation, product development
and strategic acquisitions."

Headquartered in Elkhart, Ind., Atwood Mobile Products (www.askforatwood.com) is
a leading designer and manufacturer of a broad range of appliance, chassis
hardware, glass, door, window, aluminum, and electronic products for recreation
vehicles, specialty vehicles, utility vehicles, manufactured housing and
associated niche markets.

I hope Atwood does keep up the fantastic service that the company has provided in the past. They truly are a shining example of what a company that stands behind their products can be.

Forget that. Won't happen. Never seen it to & don't expect this one
to be any different. Just not in corporate genes.

Boy, I sure hope you are wrong Ken. Fantastic has treated us very well. They even called me after reading my posts on rv nets about them, thanking me for the free advertisement. The head guy told Teri he could tell I was going to be great advertisement for them when they were working on our coach. He just did not know how good, til later. There are others too. I think I mentioned what Roadmaster just did for us. Kipor also fixed my generator out of warranty a few years back. It is hard for me not to tell others when I am treated above and beyond.
Let's just hope Atwood continues to remember who buys the fans. I will be quizzing them at Quartzsite about this.

Well, I guess I should concede that there IS some hope: Remember how
Progressive Dynamics insisted on replacing my already-self-repaired
converter some years back -- leading to their becoming the first
choice for GMC's. I guess maybe SOME corporations DO provide support.

The loss of Acme, which was a pretty good outfit before bought out
still leaves a bad taste in my ...memory.

Dan,

I agree they are; er; were a great company. They even sent a new cover for
one of the fans in The Blue Streak to Australia FOR FREE!

Unfortunately I think Maxx Air has come up with a better fan:

Their Delux model can be left on in a downpour!

Rob,
The rain sensor feature in the FF does a great job in closing the fan when
it rains. The Maxx Air is just plain UGLY.

Thanks

Gary,

I'm confused, are you talking about the Maxx Air Delux fan or the cover that
Maxx Air sells to put over fans?

I agree with you the cover that Maxx Air sells BLOODY ugly.

You are also correct in noting that the rain sensor does a great job at
closing the Fantastic Fan. However, what if you want to leave it on and
running in a rainstorm? You can't!

Please take a moment and look at the Delux model fan on the link below and
tell you what you think.

http://www.maxxair.com/maxxfan-remote-control.html

If you're really keen you could watch the installation video, I did 'cause
I've got two of them for The Blue Streak!
