Seems steering wheels with GMC logos are good for trading stock. You can mix and match GMC horn buttons with steering wheels from Chevies. (There are more Chevrolets than GMC's, so you are more likely to find good wheels with bow-ties.) The most popular are found on S10/S15's and Astro vans. But most all the older GM products will fit.

Lumina wipers are always good to grab.

I did some "scouting" the other week and came across a few goodies ( nice steering wheel, heater control, ect). Just wasn't going to bother with pulling them in freezing weather so now I'm going back for those and some misc. parts for other vehicles ,,,not just GMC stuff. Just thought i"d ask in case someone has a need for something even if its not necessarily GMC related. Some of the places I go have some pretty old/rarer cars including some hard to find imports.

Paul,
As your offering, I will have a Jaguar series 1 hood (bonnet) if you see
one.
I have asked this forum before but I will let you all know again I am still
looking for a steel hood for this model car and any leeds to one for sale at
a reasonable price would be apreciated.

Paul,

I will finish the translation for you:

Strine "I will have" = Merican' "I would like"

The hood is for a XKE Series 1; those were the ones with the glass cover
over the headlights.

Peter...I to, am on the hunt for a series 1 E type...but complete.

I missed a very nice unrestored coupe in florida a couple of months ago, for 25000....should have grabed it.

I love the lines of the coupe (not the 2+2)

G'day,

A high school buddy of mine's Dad owned an XKE. Larry and I would "borrow"
it when his Dad was out of town (figure out why?) and "cruise chicks." It
worked a treat! Wouldn't have to ask them twice if they wanted to go for a
ride!

Problem was there was no where to put them except on the rear deck behind
the seats!

The first time I saw one in the flesh was in Ft. Lauderdale FL when they were fairly new. We, entire family, were down there to visit my grandparents over Christmas break. Some other families from my hometown with kids my age were also in town. Fl was having some very warm weather. I got to take our '62 Ford wagon and pick up the other kids and go to the beach. Just after we parked an XKE conv pulled in parked next to us. Out climbs a very gorgeous blond in a, for that era, very skimpy two piece suit. (not quite bikini, after all this was '62 and at a public beach.) At that time she was an "older woman", maybe 25 max. (my how age can change opinions.)

Was doubly in lust, car and gal. Not sure which one was at the top of the lust list.

Someday, if the right thread comes up, I may also discuss my first Corvette experience.

I have a similar memory, in 1973 at age 15 my auto shop teacher (a former
asst principal) took me under his wing when I showed an interest in cars.
Went to his house to cut oak flooring for the back of a Ford Model A milk
truck and to work on his Jaguar XK150 Saloon, which we drove to his house.

He went to the store to get a new saw blade and I went to check for trout in
the stream behind his house in Bedford Hills, NY. Out of the morning mist,
leading a horse was the pretties woman I ever saw (prior to meeting Julie,
of course) leading a horse. She asked me who I was and we chatted for a few
minutes. "Say hi to Ken" were her last words. She was amazing and yst
somehow she had looked familiar.

When Ken returned I mentioned the lady and his eyes perked up. "Oh, that
was my neighbor, Jennifer O'Neil!"

I finished the Model A my senior year and got one of my only "A's" and the
Jaguar was the first car I changed a motor in. My love for cars and
motorhomes continues. I owe Ken T. a lot as he started me on a lifelong
hobby.

P.S. "Summer of '42" is still one of my favorite movies.

Believe it or not I installed a strippers pole today in the house of Joey
Pantaliano (Joey Pants) of Soprano, Matrix, The Goonies, etc. fame)It was
for his 18 year old daughter, one of my Erikas best friends...yes I had the
parents permission and no, I don't have any video!

Dan,
I realised my dream a lot of years back when I bought my first E type a 1968
coupe series 1.5, I sold it some 10 years later at a week moment and
regretted it ever since, it was the best and RHD. I since have had a LHD
series 3 coupe which I purchased in Seattle and whilst I was organising to
bring that back to Australia I located a 1961 convertable also in Seattle
which is in a very sad condition and needs a total rebuild and came with a
damaged fibreglass bonnet hence why I am on the look out for a steel bonnet.
Unfortunately I am searting to feel that I will have to on sell the E type
and buy one that requires no rebuilding mainly because I have two GMC's and
they are taking up all the spare time that I have.
I am sure you will find a good e type in USA for the money you are looking
at, you would have to pay twice that here in Australia. Good luck, and let
me know when you get one and send some pictures.
