This was buried in the Blackstone thread, but I think it deserves just a little attention and clarification.
In the test labs, all manufacturers have a standard sit time after shut-down to check the crankcase lube oil level. Depending on the client, that was at least three minutes and more often five minutes. An over-full sump can be a cause of a long list of other issues that are not very desirable.
Lube oil hang up is a well know issue that requires serious arm-waving when doing oil consumption tests.
The full level on every dipstick I ever knew about was determined with the engine cold and quiet.

i agree with the above and have studied my problem. i calibrated the stick after an oil change per accepted procedure. when i get home from a drive i check the oil and again in 30 minutes and again the next day. there is always a noticeable difference. on the road i add oil every 2nd gas stop and add about half what is called for to prevent overfilling.
with the two small drain holes in the heads and using a 15-50 oil it will take some time to drain back to the pan.
