Well after all the comments on the vapor canister, while under the hood today i discovered that my coach does not have one... the PO must have removed it because the fuel vent line from the fill tube is capped. We do not have vehicle inspections here so can I just leave it or are there performance consequences? Bryan '76 Eleganza TN

I cannot comment on the performance end, but from function, I lean
more towards keeping the vent going.

Bryan,
Although you may not "need" one to obtain a license -- I always encourage folks to keep them functioning. They do not adversely affect perfomance and may actually help the environment. Other positives -- may help with fuel smells and the fumes do go into the ignition.

Sir: they are hid under the pass seat down in the back corner of the engine compartment. Big as they are, they can be hard to find. If the canister inlet is also plugged the gas tanks are not venting properly. If left open gas fumes are present in the engine compartment.. As to performance? since the carb has a dedicated port designed as a vacuum leak at open throttle if plugged it would probably run a little rich.

I'm really slow since I don't know what I'm doing, but running the canister correctly took me about 1 hr. Honestly we don't have inspections either in my part of AZ. However I'd rather not pollute if I could prevent it even a little. But my main issue was I HATE fuel smells. Your line was capped mine was venting into the engine compartment.
I know the flash points of fuel. And the chances of a fire danger was super minimal but honestly why even have it.
JimK sells the canisters and its a easy install (after you figure out where the carb side goes! lol). To see if you may have missed yours. Its located under the passenger side seat. If you take off your wheel well it should be on the left hand side near the frame. (atleast mine was) Or from the dog house you can take off the cover, look right and look near the frame. Its alittle tough to see.
