Just wanted to revisit this subject with GMCers. Wondering who might be able to show up. I have several emails from some who are coming. Generators are fine to run except when folks might be sleeping and close by. Some folks bring smaller "honda" type generators that use much less fuel. I ran our Kipor the first year, off and on for 2 weeks. One tank of fuel. Last year we did not run it. I still carry it with us though just in case the sun goes away for a few days, unlikly in Quartzsite.
I was nervous going out there for the first time. Bert and Fay, among others, were there and made it much easier. So, if you don't enjoy heading to the "unknown", like me, don't worry. Come on. I promise in less than one day you will feel like a veteran of Quartzsite. There may even be some RV spots for rent with electric. Don't know if they are full or not. Sounds like that could be a good possibility as the crowd this year is expected to be larger than the last few years. For 40 bux you have water and a dumpsite for 2 weeks. If you join the PC group, for another 10 bux, there will be lots of good times and only a short walk to the big tent and other attractions. They camp as close as they can get to town. I am hoping to get there by or before the 15th of January. We may be down 95 at mm 99 but may move back to the Pacific Cruiser's area later when folks arrive. I never know. Last year we stayed down the road with the ham radio folks and just visited up north with others. I like not moving once I get set up. Bring collapsable water jugs. Walmart now sells them for 5 bux, in the camping area, 5 gallons. Also, if you have a maserator you can bring 6 gallon gas jugs, or something similar, and you will not have to move your coach at all.
So, Teri and I hope to see lots of GMCs, but more, we hope to see lots of friends.
Dan
