Dear friends,
Tomorrow's NY Times Auto section has an article entitled "Cars Rock;
Stickers May Shock", it lists 10 Hits and 5 turkeys. The hits start with
the Ferrari 599 which the artlcle laments is sold out for 18 months and
includes the Audi R8, Porsche Cayenne, Honda Accord and others. Turning to
page 10 wherethe article continues I saw a picture of the 789, last car on
the list of 10.
To quote the pertinent passage ... "Made by the custom car maker n2a Motors,
the 789 is merely the coolest car on this ever-hotter planet.
2008 will be our year.
Happy New Year
Fred

Steve,
We did three in Vero Beach, FL a few years ago. The first two sold like
hotcakes and my buddy decided to keep the last one. We only used the
supercharged Super Coupe.

Wow,
I thought all of them came out of a single shop in Yuma. Everytime I asked
an owner where he got it, "Yuma" was the answer. Were those kits or did the
front ends come from vintage Fords?
BTW, I have the real deal:

You can get them as kits for 89 to 97 T-birds and Cougars. I like the roofline when done with a Cougar even if it isn't much like the early Fords. The same place makes a kit to convert a 92 to 02 Camaros into a funny looking 1957 Chevy. The convertible doesn't look to bad, buy the roofline of hardtops looks silly. Good option if you have (or can find cheap) a damaged donor car.
<http://www.easyrods.com/index.htm>
There is another place that does early 50's bullet nose Studebaker kits for El-Caminos and Malibu wagons. Their web site seems down. Do a web search on "Studemino".
While some kit cars would make good towds, I do not think any of the above kits would make a good towd for the GMC. (GMC content) Now if someone had a Austin 7 replica kit....

My brother had a 50 Coupe, with a 348, 3 two barrel carbs. Fun car --- especially the day my Dad said he was going to show us how to drive it -- he came away shaking.

Dennis,
That is just plain pure nostalgia at it's best! A friend of mine found a
mint '53 Studie and instead of the usual Caddy engine, he dropped in a
detailed Tri-Power 348. I really like the car.
Not being able to leave anything alone, I brought the '51 to San Diego to a
friend of mine who is a great panel beater. When the car was painted 32
years ago, they didn't repair the inner rockers, common back then not to
repair what you couldn't see. I wanted it perfect. Well, some led to more
and we replaced steel at nearly every corner of the car. It is all blocked
out now ready for paint.
To keep this GMC, I believe we will see kits to make Winnies into GMCs
long before we will see the reverse.

Forgot to add that that Ford has 34,000 original miles on it. The PO drove
it 4,000 miles in the 30 plus years he owned it. That Vett motor is 100%
intact, right down to the air cleaner nut. A friend of the PO wrecked his
'64 Vette in '69 and sold him the engine and trans for the '51. The old
flat motor still lives in his garage in MN.
