I am in the process of getting my '73 with the Cad 500 running again. The engine was installed and driven a little by the PO. I have taken the Quadrajet off and cleaned it and adjusted the . When I removed the carb I found a 1" phenolic spacer under the carb. A question, is this a standard installation? My parts list that goes up to 1974 doesn't show it. I understand the use of spacers to keep carb temperature down but I am questioning if it is really necessary since it causes a higher hatch level. What have you non-efi owners found?
