Imagine my surprise when I opened my gift at the family Hanukkah party this weekend and my Dad gave me his Hess Training Van! Dad worked at Hess in the early 80s and always bought the Hess trucks. Of course, he let me play with them as a kid and most of the boxes are long gone, so they aren't worth what they could be, but it was a great surprise when he wrapped that one up for me.

All working parts, no cracking or bent parts and just a little discoloration... I think this will sit on my office bookshelf for many years to come to remind me why I work so hard during the week to enjoy the spring-fall weekends!

Thanks,

Ya gotta love it Jeremy !

I picked up a Hess Training Van is excellent condition on Ebay some time back, I
keep it right on the shelf above my desk at home. Every time I look at it, it
reminds me of great relaxing times in the GMC !

Jeremy,

What a neat surprise. I used to frequent the local Hess station when I
lived in northern NJ. Always bought the annual truck. Kept them on a
display shelf in the basement. One day apparently, my son - probably in the
6-7 year old range convinced my wife to let him play with it. He managed to
brake one of the door hinges, but everything else remained in tack. I found
a Hess truck at Carlisle last year with a corner broken off one of the
bumpers - otherwise in very good shape - no box. I paid $5 for it - now I
have a parts coach that is too good to part out!!!

Have fun,
