Am trying to locate what was called the "Gun Cabinet" that hung above the rear window of our coach's.
I have a '78 Royale Center Kitchen with the original solid walnut cabinets and would like to find a 'gun cabinet' made out of the same original walnut material.
Any information or 'leads' to one would be greatly appreciated.
Please either email me directly to fluffyms@juno.com or call me at 847-772-7247.
Thanks...

I think there is a terminology problem here. Someone posted some drawings showing some of the optional cabinets available for the GMC. I looked but didn't find them.
IIRC:
GM did have an option for a "gun cabinet" it was designed to replace an overhead cabinet over the dinette or couch on GM upfitted coaches. They has separate locking compartments for guns and ammo. These cabinets are based a different design than the Coachman cabinets in your Royale. (Will not match very well.)
The "fishing cabinet" was designed to mount to the upper cabinets and fits over the rear window. I suspect this is the cabinet you are looking for. They probably could be customized to be a locking gun cabinet.
GMCRECS sells a replica "Fishing Cabinet". I get the impression these GMCRECS cabinets are better than the "original" ones but do not KNOW that for sure. As they have them built in small batches, they might even be able to hook you up with one of the material and features you want.

Give them a call. The worse they could say is "no."

I sell the so called "fishing cabinet" for the rear of the GMC. Unlike the original, ours is made of furniture grade plywood and is unpainted so the buyer can stain or paint to match his/her interior. Made by Tom Eckert in Tennessee. These models have two doors for easier access. Price $325 plus shipping.
I also have an original gun cabinet. This one has two doors, both with locks, one long for rifles and a short one for ammo.
There is also a removable rifle rack inside. It is made of fiberboard but wooden doors and is very heavy which is why we have not yet reproduced it-looking for a lighter wood. It fits over the dinette(next to the entry door), not in the rear of the GMC..................Thx, Michael at GEMRECS
