If it really does go away after a little while ( 5 seconds? 30 seconds?) after
starting, I would just write it off as an annoyance and try to forget about it
as being one of those things that's not worth fixing. 35 year old machines have
those sometimes, just like 70 year old people (there's this slight pain in my
knee....).
