Because of my experience with Progressive insurance when they just forgot me when I was broken down, I am cancelling my insurance with them today. They have never gotten back to me or to the rep at USAA who placed me with them. Just another big company that is all talk.

I don't blame you Bob. I did same with Good Sam for a similar incident. Sure hope Progressive never treats me like that or I will look for different insurance also.

And run by one the biggest leftists in the USA
who supports all sorts of socialist and Marxist
causes.

My motorcycle insurance with them will be replaced
at the end of its current term.

I apologize in advance if that comment is considered
too far "off topic."

Dan Gregg's experience last year was similar, IIRC.

OOPS! Just read Dan Gregg's note that
his problem was with Good Dam.

Sorry 'bout that, Chief!

Less than 1 1/2 hours after posting my thread about Progressive Insurance' failure to call me concerning the incident I outlined above, they called !! It was a very polite call and I cannot doubt that their apology is sincere. I could be cynical but it is the Christmas season and I am going to consider the matter closed. Thanks for your support.

Oh good. I hope they were able to satisfy your need. I have had good dealings with them. they paid a 1000 dollar tow bill for me last year and Good Sam would not even respond to my requests. Good Sam did give me a 3 month extension but I had already told them I was finished with them. Was my second bad dealing with them. No chance for a 3rd.
thanks for letting us know Bob.
Dan

I have, and many of my employees have progressive and to be honest I've thought they have always went way above and beyond.

They do have great commercials! As State Farm just paid for new roofs for my home and clinic (following a bad hailstorm last spring), I feel that I should give them some support for a while. I don't like the fact that they have "stated value" insurance, not "agreed value" insurance (as for as I know). I use them to insure two classic cars, and their rates are competative with the other companies I had checked with.

When the motorhome comes due next time, I may try to contact Jim Bounds' contact to see what my options are. A reliabile towing service is probably as important as anything.

I've had Progressive through USAA for 2 years now. Just had both GMCMH windshields replaced this summer. Bill was over $2500 but Progressive charged me only my $500 deductible...no questions asked. I think all insurance companies are a necessary evil, but USAA and Progressive are okay in my book.

They must be reading GMC net or someone here reported your posting to them.

I do not use them for the reason posted previously but if you can get by their political support it sounds to me like people are getting a decent shake from them.

I'm glad to here it all worked out for you.

Dan seemed very happy with them last January when he needed towing.

Woody, were both windshields broken at same time?

I have State Farm insurance with towing and also have Good Sam for emergency roadside assistance. I have had great service from Good Sam - had to call them 5 times in first year or two. When my engine blew up in Jackson Hole they towed me over a hundred miles to a Chevy truck shop that they found for an engine replacement. I have heard that other people have had problems with them but I think that the problem might actually be with the people that they subcontract with to handle the calls. The State Farm towing insurance is for the so far unneeded case when they can't or won't help - it is cheap.

Seems that no matter which you have - Progressive or Good Sam - you could have a problem but will probably get an apology later. Let's hope that we never need either one of them again.
