So hay gang, this is only the 3rd attempt that Judi and I have made to get on to the blog. Thanks to amazingly weak wifi connections.
First let me say that we have great respect for what Lynwood has done with this 29 ft stretch. but must report that the treatment that this coach received from the po has left this coach with many deficits (thankfully most are resolveable).
On to our experience in Deming. Anyone who has ever broken down on the road will understand the rather nauseas feeling in the pit of your stomach that one experiences with what appears to be catastrophic failure. First mental processes are to establish exactly what has happened and the extent of the damage. With inspection, the engine appears to be fine, no leaking fluids of any kind and no strange engine ticks (didn't know if I lost the engine). However when I restarted the engine and putting the trans into drive I was shocked to discover all we had was first gear. We limped our way back to a truck stop, called Manny, described the problems and then called Jimmy K who confirmed the diagnosis.
First gear only, no speedo equals broken govenor gear. If we are all not amazed by being able to contact these experts and have a definitive diagnosis over the phone then listen to this. Call Jimmy K at 4 oclock, Jim had the parts delivered to UPS who then shipped them to us at a truck stop 15 miles west of Deming, on a Saturday and Judi had the new gear in her hand by 10:45 am the following day - 18 hrs latter. WOW (GOD BLESS JIMMY K).
Add to that, the two angels from the Black list who showed up to offer mechanical help, knowledge, hands on, and moral support. Most of you who know Dan Gregg in person will agree that the silver grey hair isn't hair at all, but rather his angelic glow and Jeff Willard who by the way is no longer a GMC owner did not let that small fact stand in his way from being an amazing help in every sense of those words.
It seems to me that until a person has experience with the Black list and this charished community one cannot appreciate what we have going on here. From our suppliers who will and have garnered my full support, to the willing participants with information and advise on the forum, to those amazing people on the Black list Judi and I can only offer our deepest heartfelt thanks and our personal commitment to the axiom, what goes around comes around.
Thank you to everyone we were planning to drive the coach up to Seattle, but because of time constraints feel that we will leave it in Phoenix for now and fly back sometime in the spring to pick it up and continue its drive north. We will keep you all informed of it's progress at that time.
Thanks again,
Dan and Judi Borlase
