Dan, I know you do other things as you drive.
When we were traveling together to Montgomery, TX, you were driving
off to the shoulder lot of the time.
If it wasn't for your Q Bag system, you would have really weaved around.
Now I cannot say too much about others as I do not drive straight, I
daydream and forget that I'm driving. Grace is there to remind me to
drive straight.

If she reads this last update, she'll know you're up to something other than
paying close attention to your driving.

Nick, just advised me that UPS shows that the package is on the way
for delivery around 12:30.
Satuurday delivery are very special for UPS and FedEx. If we do not
specify Sat. delivery, you will get it Monday.

here is an old post by Manny, but it really says just get it out

If the governor is not seated properly, specially with a new square
seal, it tends to break or strip the teeth on the plastic gear. You'll
loose the shifting and the speedometer. If the gear breaks, it usually
disintegrates, leaving pieces floating around. If you don't remove
everything, chances are it will interfere and damage the new gear.
Rebuilding the governor consists of removing the gear and shift valve.
Using a little wire brush to clean the bore, lubing everything with
Teflonlubricant and reassembly. Most of the time I replave the gear.
I wire brush the dome and if I find pitting, I coat it with extend.

Try going in with a bit that is slighter larger and see if it will
snag it ti where you can finger the bit out with the gear.

Ok, thanks. I emailed Jeff Willard on my way here and he showed up from Silver City. He and Dan have left for Jeff's shop to get the broken piece out of governor and to pick up a drill with long bits. The shaft of gear snapped even with the actual gear so the gear is flat with an indentation in it. I was able to drive roll pin out of the gov using a ratchet(hammer) and an allen wrench (punch). Hoping we can hit it fast and hard with a drill bit, like Jim says, and snag it to pull out. Life is good and will be better shortly.

Good Luck..

Thanks Cuck. Greas on a stick was my next thought. Now, I have the gear sideways as I was trying to fish it out before the 2 get back. I hope the sucker will come out of the hole sideways. So far, it aint.
Ken, I was passing a big truck when I typed Teri's name.

If you can clean it. 5 MINUTE JB weld on a stick might do it.

Whew, life is getting better. I got the gear flipped back right. Now, there is no grease anywhere in the coach except what is all over the engine, ha. I called Jeff. He will bring me grease. I will see if I can wipe the gear with a towel and wire while I wait. Yall are good. Thanks for being there for us. As everyone knows, I am no mechanic. Very Happy Just a flunkie who can sometimes follow instructions. Today, Jeff is my hero, along with you guys for offering suggestions.

Just took a couple of pics of what it looks like where the gear is.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=37096&title=governor-mounting-face&cat=5470
Looks like there is no room for it to fall out of the way so it has to come out of the governor bore. Grease on a stick is a great idea.

Dan;
Same thing happened to Fraziers couch.
We ended up pulling the trans. pan and was glad that we did as we found some
small pieces of gear still up in the cavity that could have worked into the
new gear.
We blew the cavity out with air.
Just make sure that all the pieces you find make the old gear whole when you
match up all the pieces.
That's how we new we had pieces still in the trans.
