If anyone was sent the all plastic ones from us for the same price as
the ctlindrical one, we need to issue credit to you for the
differance.
Believe it or not we paid more than $71.20 plus freight for the black ones.
Armen , contact us if you received the black one so we can credit you.

Armand,
They are both pastic, the cylindrical one has brass fittings and metel
mounting bracket.

Plug the hoses - my question as well. This would allow pressure to build up in the tanks (or at least no vacuum because of the cap). If pressure, which would be highest on the hot days when vapor lock is a problem, it should reduce the vapor lock problem. This is the way car tanks used to be setup, before all the EPA regs.

Ray,
That is also the only vent for the tanks. At some point, you may want to take fuel out and replace it with air. When this happens the fuel pump will have to "raisinize" the tank. Or, you can go to a vented gas cap and pretend that the fumes in the cab bother you.

"If you plug all the vent hoses going to the tanks then your fuel pump will eventually draw a vacuum and stop pumping fuel."
In the mean time, while you are driving down the road, the tanks will pressurize. This may happen when it is only 70 degrees or so. The pressure will swell the tanks, causing the fuel guage to indicate low, and the pickup to be higher than normal above the bottom of the tanks. Going across west Texas you will sweat, wondering if you are going to make the next town for gas, and the next town is 100 miles away. When you finally make it to a station, you must carefully crack the cap, and then wait for a long time while the tanks depressurize. Don't ask how I know this.
Someone I know eliminated the broken fuel separator and plumbed the vapor vent lines into the filler, thinking this would allow for faster fueling. It worked quite well until the vented cap (drilled) was replaced with what was thought to be a two way vented cap. Didn't have any vapor lock problems and didn't have fuel sloshing out on downhill or max effort stops. Problems encountered are mentioned above.
All in all I do NOT recommend eliminating the fuel/vapor separator.

One of my daughters had a Plymouth Champ. I got a call (the one I hate, the
first word after I say hello is Dad! ) she was running out of gas even tho
the gauge said almost full. What had happened was some how the tank was not
venting and the fuel pump collapsed the tank.
Compressed air some what restored the tanks shape, but left the pickup tube
at about the half level. Probably wouldn't happen with The GMC tank,it's
heavier gauge steel.
