To All,

This time of the year I am doing all the upgrades and fixing all the
little things that I want to get done on the 77 Eleganza Custom before
I head south and get out of the cold. This year we are off to Tucson
for the winter, mid January to Mid March.

Now to the disk brakes modification. I have added a photo album:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=5661

I used Leigh Harrison "Center Axle Disc Brake Kit" <http://www.leighharrisongmcmotorhomeupgrades.com/CenterAxleDiscBrakeKit.html
> because I already owned it as it was installed on our 1975 Avion
that I purchased a few years back and is undergoing a frame up
restoration. The Harrison brakes will not work with the reaction arm
braking upgrade as they mount differently than the disk brakes used
with that mod. Because I could I changed out the rotors and Calipers
to make everything fresh.

If you your NOT planning to go whole hog and install the reaction arm
system then these brakes are for you. They really stop the coach as I
noticed when towing the towed back from Penn. when I was picking up
the coach and had no towed brakes. They are a 12 1/2" rotor!

Special Note: For you safety buffs, the yellow bottle jack is "NOT"
supporting the coach while I work on it. You will notice 12000# Red
Floor Jack stands that are supporting the coach!

FYI,

Be sure and read the photo details under each picture. There is
expanded information in that area for many of the pictures.

John,
Should you need another hub should the bearings go south, you'll need
to purchase another one made for this. Lot of work goes into his unit.
We tested couple units with his large rotors, they locked up and skidded .

It would be great to have the parking brake shoes inside the disc hub, like on new trucks.

Dave,
We have several people working on it .
The one that has been working once we show them how to keep it
functioning is the GM
Caliper with the parking mechanical built in one. Comes off the
77-78Eldo. /Toronado.
Since we have been working on this type of parking options , were very
knowledgeable on this .

Jim,
Contact me offline and let me know the secret to make them work. I
already have 2 sets of rear eldo calipers for the 75 6 wheel upgrade.
