Should I be leaving my Dometic RV type - gas/electric- refrigerator running while plugged in at my house? I wonder what gas consumption is? It runs so good, I hate to shut it down, but certainly can if needed. I've had the recall done so everything should be up-to-date. Makes hard ice and keeps the beer cold. What should I do?

Stick,
When you're plugged into A/C the fridge will run on A/C not LPG. IIRC
there's an indicator on the top that shows what it's running on.
Personally I would not leave it running unless you're using it.

Rob - it seems to me it has 3 lights. I'll have to check and see what it is on. Even when we're unplugged I think the same light stays on. I do have our staples - beer, etc. out there and really like having it running. Other than the little bit of electricity, any downside?

When I had the Dometic, I always kept it running on the house 120.
I would switch it over to 12V when on the road. Do not have Gas in our Coach.
12V was the first position to the right, 120 the last.

The "little bit of electricity" on a gas/electric refrigerator is not small. The average home refrigerator takes about 100 watts per hour or less on the newer energy star ones. The average RV refrigerator takes 200 to 250 watts to keep it running. They are very inefficient.
In addition, although some will dispute this, every thermostatically controlled on/off cycle on an RV refrigerator causes thermal expansion and contraction in the various tubes and parts that make it run. Cracking of the tubes and welds is a significant result and cause of ultimate failure. Less on time, fewer cycles, longer life.
If you want an extra refrigerator, put one in the garage, a normal compressor one. Lots less costly to run, and to replace. RV refrigerators are in the range of $1000 to $1400 these days.
Your choice of course.
