I am looking for plans for an engine removal A frame (not for me) that will clear the roof a/c.

I saw this one:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=1875&cat=3180

But it does not appear to accomodate the a/c.

Can someone direct me to another set ofplans?

Thank you all.

Dan,

I tried that 20-some years ago. 4 inch I-beam(it was free) A
man-killer for weight.
Made a new one a couple of years ago. Rectangular tubing.(paid
for it) Much lighter.
Weight is a consideration when you work alone.

I have one designed for dropping the engine out the bottom. It's yours if
you want it free. I live just SE of Tucson if you happen, or a friend
happens to be traveling this way.

Steve, does that mean that you are not going to be a GMC owner in the
future? You will not know what to do with your self, have to have some
hobby or you will rot on the couch.

Niel,
The trolley frame shown in the picture of your first post is mine. I used it to pull the engine out the door on a 26' with the original Dometic AC. It clears fine and allows one to remove it through the door with a common cherry picker. It is engineered to go together with pined joints and triangular legs. No welding is involved. I can either e-mail you the sketches so you could build your own from scrap yard steel. there is an alternative that We may be coming to LA for Thanksgiving and could bring it down as a loan it to you.

I have used this on at least three different removals with no problem.
Good luck with your project.

Carlton,
No hidden meaning. If I need another one, I have got (literally) tons of
steel around here. I have so many projects that some days I just jump on
the bike and ride for a few hours so I don't have to think about all of
them.
I just can't see hanging on to it if it is needed.
