First message.
Donny Smith, Nacogdoches, TX
73 Painted Desert
Installed new alternator, two new house batteries and a new engine battery with a knife switch. With the unit parked and the knife switch opened, the engine cranked off the house batteries and this should not have happened. Any idea where I should start looking for the problem?

The battery boost switch on the dash should lock in either position on your
'73. When closed, it activates the solenoid relay which puts the chassis
and house batteries in parallel. Try cranking with the switch in the other
position.

The boost solenoid can also be welded closed. However I'm betting this is a PO modification issue.
