Having trouble getting the air to come out the floor. Keeps coming out the AC vent. Is the vac motor for the AC reachable? (is that a word?) Parts book shows it outside on the drivers side. My maint. manual is unclear. My control valve passes gas well(vacume). Thanks,,,PL

Emery Stora probably can help you out the best. He also has a '78 and knows a whole lot about them including the much updated and improved AC units that they had by then.

Unfortunately, when I had mine it was a '76 and it had a fairly different AC ducting system than your '78. So, my knowledge is limited.

I hope someone with the '78 system will chime in here, or Emery will, to help you out.

Guys with 77's and 78's who know the AC systems, help here.

It sounds like all your vacuum doors are not working.
Get a hand vacuum pump and check each one out separately.
The diaphragms on the doors do go bad with age.
Also check for plug in the heat vent on the passengers side.
Previous owner may have put a rag in it so his wife didn't
complain about heat coming in, in the summer.
