You might check this out. I just did it and did have to cut away some of the dash panel as suggested. You can't really see where you cut it unless you're crawling around on the floor. I used a Harbor Freight multifunction tool to do the cut and minimize its size.

There is not much to it. Two nuts in front, 4 nuts in back, plus removing the pin that attaches it to the brake pedal.
The biggest problem is getting to the lower left nut on the rear. Some people cut a notch in the plastic for better access. I was able to get to all of them and reinstall them with a 1/4" drive socket on a universal or a wobble extension and a ratcheting box end. It will probably take you an extra 15 or 20 minutes if you do not cut the dash. It is tight but doable. A magnet on a stick might also help you.
Go for it. It is not difficult.
