Jack,

As Ken and others have mentioned, we make skid/slide blocks for the rear of
the GMC. We prefer them to the wheel as they don't announce to everyone in
the vicinity that you are dragging the back end.
They bolt on and work really nice. And are easy to change out if you ever
wear them out.
We were really glad we had them on when we were towed to Van Horn, TX after
losing a rear wheel bearing. Lasted after being dragged for over 10 miles.
Let us know if you would like us to send you a set for your approval.
Or are you coming to the GMC 49ers rally next weekend (Nov 12 - 14) in
Alameda? If so, we could bring a set there.

I use the Curtis's skid/slide blocks.  While a rare event, they work great and are quiet when they drag.  I would have gone with putting steel plates back there but these gave me a little more needed clearance and were easier to install (1 bolt each).

I must agree with Jim K. the wheels look a bit like SOB that was not designed well enough to get into an urban parking lot.

Bert,
Please bring a pair of your skid plates. I certainly wouldn't want to use wheels and be confused with SOB. I will be at the Alameda rally.
