G'day,

I really like our Avion, however, but since I'm 6 foot 1 1/2 inches tall
there are two areas that I would like changed:

1) I wish the bed was a bit longer than 75 inches.

2) I wish I didn't keep hitting my head on the light in the shower!

I solved number 2) today!

Check this out:

http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?R=LIT80423C_0217778409

In my Avion the hole in the shower ceiling is 4.375 inches, the OD of the
recessed part of this light is 4.3 inches. The bezel isn't completely flat
it sticks out around 1/8 inch or so.

It will fit perfectly. The down side is that you're going to have to fill
the mounting holes for the square light.

Also since it only has one wire you'll have to drill a hole in the internal
dome and pop rivet a ground wire to it.

Also if you want you will have to install a separate switch.

The bottom line you can get rid of the light that you keep hitting your head
on!

Regards,
Rob M.

Rob...is your caoch a rear bed model ?

Mine is a 78 PB that , of corse , has a rear "locker" at the
Foot (or head ) depending on your orentation.
I removed the "locker", built a shallower side couver all in
order to create an 80 inch, side to side space for a longer (king size lenth) bed for my 6' 4" heighth.

Had a custom made air bed from by Bear Beds made on Steve F.'s recomendation.

The result is a steller sleep for me, without smack'n my head
or feet on ether end of the bed.

Life is good in a GMC provided you get a good nights sleep.

Dan who is about to take possession of his secon coach....WHAT!!!

Dan,

All 26' Avions came with rear twin beds, the distance from the closet /
bathroom wall to the rear wall is 75 inches. To lengthen the passenger side
that I sleep on I could take 2" out of the closet. It is on my To-Do list. I
sleep OK but would sleep better with a couple of inch longer bed.

Rob - you and I are in about the same situation except that I have a couple of inches on you (heightwise, anyway). I really need to make a change in one bed and it entails either cutting into or removing part of the closet about 2/3 back on the passenger side of my Royale. The easiest thing would be to cut a flap in the end of the closet and stick my feet in - think Sawzall, but that still leaves a support corner post and an odd shaped mattress. I think Mr. Ken Henderson and I are going to do some evaluation this week. I really believe it will entail taking the top half of the closet out and essentially moving the wall about a foot.

I also believe that this will be money well-spent...not only for me, but for a future tall owner.

Still trying to imagine the bathroom light situation.
