Good insights into my query, I am running 16' alcoas with Michelin XPS Rib. We do carry a 3ton bottle jack and some lightweight blocks but I have never tried lifting the front frame with it when the tire is deflated. Best to try that first. The front to back replacement could be tricky like was mentioned (lift the back pull the tire and set it on blocks then lift the front and replace the tire). Best of all a light weight narrow trailer tire could be the best guarantee to get me somewhere. I have space up under the tail end also. Would have to look into finding a rim with correct bolt hole pattern, a set of lugnuts since the alcoa rims use their own style nut and a tire that could take some amount of weight for a while after being stored for a century... One should also try using the bottle jack and jack hook setup with
one of the rear tires low (or flat) to see if you can get it to all
work with a flat. The coach sits a lot lower when one of the tires has
blown out. On my last blowout, my bottle jack and jack hook setup
wouldn't work cause the bottle jack wouldn't fit under the jack hook
with a flat tire. Luckily I had the original jack setup (the really
tall bottle jack and chain with a hook on one end) and I got the spare
swung on.

Gary makes an important point. The jack hooks are neat when both tires are
inflated and you are on a level surface like a shop floor. When you have a
flat tire on the rear of your coach with a single air bag original system,
there is seldom room for the hook and a bottle jack of sufficient power to
raise the coach. In this situation, a hydraulic jack like the ones used in
shops work very well and the original tall bottle jack & chain setup will do
an adequate job. Or you can call AAA and use your road hazard policy to get
the tire changed. When you blow out a tire on the rear, many times the tire
will disintegrate with pieces of the tread still attatched to the carcass of
the tire and that stuff flailing around at highway speeds frequently causes
damage to height control valves and air lines. The spare tire becomes a moot
point when this happens, because you need to effect repairs to the air
system before you can continue your trip. The very best insurance to
minimize this happening is frequent air pressure checks, tire rotation and
inspection and replacement when necessary. There is absolutely no substitute
for prevent maintence, in my personal opinion.

One more thing to think about if you have a 4-bag or Quad-Bag system: If
you're planning on the air system with the remaining inflated tire to help
you get clearance to install a jack, figure out how you'll get to the manual
air control valves with the tires up into the wheel well. That's one reason
I moved mine from the recommended position on the wheel well back into the
rear compartment on each side. The other is that I couldn't see the
pressure gauges back there anyway. Of course, my having permanently mounted
fender flares with integrated T-skirts didn't help the situation.
