Had a great if modest first meeting at TA truck stop in Wilsonville, with Jim Hupy from Salem, Mike Miller from Hillsboro, and myself & Vess from Portland. Don't know Vess' last name, and he hasn't been on the net, though I think we all convinced him to check it out.
Great discussions about everything. Thanks to Jim and Mike for sharing their expertise. Vess & I are relative newbies and mostly just asked questions and soaked up information. For me, being able to meet and talk to people like Jim and Mike that have years of experience on these rigs, gives me hope in the midst of being overwhelmed that maybe everything can be fixed sooner or later. It rekindles my excitement. Thanks guys.
Talked about next meeting in a month or two. I know there are a bunch more GMC owners in the Portland/Vancouver area (Glenn Giere & Dan Winchester are 2 that I've met or talked to), so if you're interested in a mini-jamboree, keep in touch and join us next time.

Glad to hear you had a good first meeting. I had my knee done a week ago so no chance of me attending last weekend or in the short term future. When you get to thinking about a future meeting maybe consider Longview/Kelso area and attract a few of the Seattle Tacoma owners. Just a thought.

I am not sure if I would call the “meeting” the “first” meeting of the NW GMC lunch bunch. It wasn't really even lunch time! I think of it more as a preliminary meeting... But whatever you call it, it was worth the drive and time.
Mary Hupy was also in attendance and participated in the discussion. My wife, Ann was there but, like normal, she stayed in the coach.
While at times it seem that the knowledge flow was one way, it isn't. I am still learning about things I thought I knew and some that I didn't even know I didn't know! While it DOES appear I have been around GMC's longer than Jim, his depth of knowledge about cars, trucks and "stuff in general" far outweighs mine.
The discussion varied from combiners, generators, middle aged spread (coach, not owners) green paint fuels and tanks, Caddy conversions (briefly) , refrigerators, fuel injection, maillists/web forums and more. (Sounds like this forum... just face to face!)
Note to Vess: Be sure to check out the threads on the original refrigerator installed in your Sequoia. Here is one: <http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net/GMCforum/index.php?t=tree&goto=93174&rid=0> IF after reading about it, you still go through the expense of installing a propane model... I would like your old ac/dc refer.
Anyway, There was talk about another get together in 1 or 2 months. The proposed location was “some” restaurant in the Salem area on a SUNDAY. One of The Original Pancake houses was one idea. (But they ARE a breakfast place.) While I was thinking this was more of an Oregon group, but I think most of us are flexible. If there is enough interest from Washington, it could easily be held north of Portland.
There also was a brief mention of work rally. Location for more than a few coaches would be something to look into.
Anyway, I would like to see more of this type of meeting. I normally do not have time to make “normal” rallies. But a Lunch every couple of months is well within my ability to fit in.
