I should add that there was a second problem contributing to the tingle
in our case -- the outlet into which I'd plugged the beast had a reversed
hot and neutral. I strongly suggest getting one of those little outlet
testers and checking. They have little lights that tell you if a plug
is wired correctly. They're cheap and readily available at any decent hardware store.

The little outlet checkers are great. I have one plugged in all the time on one of my outlets. It also makes a great night light.
Cheap insurance against a reversed polarity or dead leg.
